My machines have 1 spray gun for lines, and 1 for stencils, there is not need to change tips unless 6" fire lane is to be painted. Then you want to change tips.

if you had one hundred stop bars to paint, why would you use a 4xx tip and make two passes rather than 6 or 8 passes with a 3xx. You are so concerned about the 30 seconds to change a tip, you are wasting more time to changing. Every machine carriers there tips,

It's not 30 seconds, it's the time it takes to get to the truck and back. If I had 100 stop bars I still wouldn't change tips, only takes two passes, one for each side, and fill in the center by hand, I have two guns on each machine.

We need to have some sort of race to solve this haha, 20 stop lines, one person swaps to a wide tip able to paint the bars in two passes, one uses 3xx to paint each edge and hand paint the middle. GO.

Some people put mustard on their hot dog some use ketchup. Which is right?

Changing sizes isn't really all that important to me but changing from yellow to black is. Those who use striping tips to cover areas larger than intended... looks like a kindergartener did the work. Seriously... my work looks tons better when I take the time to change to the appropriate tip. As for walking to and from your truck. Pshaw. Just make a mental note of when you'll need the tip and be prepared. No extra trips necessary. Plus... 30 seconds to change is exaggerated but it doesn't matter. If it takes one hour to change then it take an hour to change. You just gotta do it. Be professional.

If you are doing numerous stop bars while restriping in a parking lot, why not set up your two striping guns so you have a 627 in one gun and whatever tip you prefer for striping in the other. Set up the guns so you can paint both lines and stop bars by just a flip of your gun selection switch. You only make one pass for stop bars and you don't have to get off the machine to change tips. If you do have to change tips, why do you have to go back the truck to get a different one? There is plenty of room on a pusher to store them and I am sure you could find some space on the striper to keep them.

Because I don't have it set up for two guns on one side, it's a gun on each side, the 3500 wasn't intended to have two guns so there is no gun selection switch, it's a trigger at each hand, also filling by hand avoids wear stripes.

i have to agree, the stop bars do look nicer when filled in by hand, IMO.

The same with solid painted speed bumps.

anything solid really. I detest seeing stuff painted with multiple passes with the machine. this is just a thing with me, in the end I don't thing anybody else gives a crap.

I'm in agreement with this sentiment as well haha, the worst is when you see arrow stencils that someone obviously painted with the gun still on the machine... WHY!

That's nothing, try a ten foot wide 80 foot long walkway done across the ten foot part.
