Part time help

I don't put on any part time help. My customers don't like that but it is the way it is. I found employees are the hardest part of running my business and I like easy. I can make more then enough to feed my family working alone. As far as been available 24/7? That is me, I am available when ever the phone rings. My customers know that and I do get calls in the middle of the night. 90% of the time I can be on site within an hour if needed, use to be 20 minutes when I owned a towing service. Like Calf striper said "I can be there when the check is there" Now my fee can sometimes change the customers mind. as to how soon the job needs to be done. You want me to stripe McDonald's and it has to be done tonight? OK be prepared to pay $250/hr w/4 hr. mim. plus materials and I will be there with whatever color socks you want me to ware. Most of the time my trailer is ready to roll. Paint is in the machine and they are all full of gas. One thing different about scheduling here is nether me nor the customer can do that more then 3 days out. Our scheduling is all done by the weather! With an average of 277 days of rain a year and the good days arn't all sunny warm days, we have to take what we get and charge for it. I would love to have some good help that I could trust to leave alone with the business but it just hasn't happened. I have had customers pay for me to fly home for a 3 day job when I was in Mexico on vacation just to shoot a 2 mile section of road due to weather. One thing nice about been a 1 man operation is one never has to be concerened about ware the payroll is coming from nor can I make it this week. I have seen co's that do million dollar projects and the owner can't affored lunch this week. Next week he may be able to buy the restrant but this week he has to meet payroll. customer is calling later all.
