newbie here, hows everybody been reading the posts for a few weeks, i have a small paving company in michigan, about five years ago the city of inkster stop me from recapping a small lot(till i got a permit) well i had about 20 tons on the ground. i went and got the permit, now i get permits for everything. its a good selling point, the fly by nights want nothing to do with permits, i just bid a big drive and put on the estimate that we would get all permits to do the job, well the homeowner had no idea you had to have a permit. he says we saved his but, my bid was 650.00 more than the other paver, now i get calls all the time from homeowners who have talked to the city and the inspectors have had them call me. it works, i gladly pay the fees and follow their guideline for asphalt, it makes the customer feel safe and will protect you in case of a legal action. just my 02. nice forum ppl. randy
