Parking lot striping with no driver is the same as farming with no tractor.

Are you calling me a mule or a jackass ken?

Note, the steel-spring shoes look just like regular "sports" shoes. It's just that because there are actually springs in the bottom instead of this year's colored plastic air chambers or other gimmicks they do have the effect of making to slightly taller, they just mention that in their ads. They don't look any different than regular shoes except they make a "dress" leather model and it does look slightly thicker in the sole area. Not so much as most people would notice and a striper wouldn't need those anyway. But I agree 100% with Ken's quote. If you are serious about striping they LazyLiners pay for themselves in productivity and the fact you won't have to "lay up" for 2 days after striping a really big job or cause yourself leg/foot/back/problems as you get older.

Thanks everyone. Maybe if I expand enough someday I will get line driver. Right now it's out of the question... I just don't do that many big jobs. For now anyhow! Thanks again for all the responses!!

In the middle of a large job where steel toed BOOTS are required. Steel toed tennis shoes NOT ACCEPTABLE. Couldn't even wear shorts. Fortunately a lot of the work is at night, when the superintendant and OSHA are passed out in a ditch somewhere. Prolly together.

Are you calling me a mule or a jackass ken? [/quote] I don't know. Before picking your shoe, look in the mirror. If the shoe fits wear it. Do you guys have any other masocistic tendancies?!?!? Seriously, if striping is your primary income, there is no reason for not using a driver. Increased productivity more than off-sets the cost. Same holds true for the auto lay-out.

What I find interesting is that if my little pea brained memory is right, the original Lazy Liner wasn't invented till 1997!

Due to standing up at just about every job I ever had, walking all the time at the job, standing, etc.... I developed bone spurs on my heels so I have to get cortizone injections once in a while but went through a few brands of orthodic inserts. The best I have found are black plastic inserts made by Dow or DuPont and are only $65.00 per pair and are heat molded to your feet. My foot doctor told me to stay with the Asics Gel because of the longer lasting cushion as opposed to the "air" type of tennis shoes. He said that the gel will help longer and last longer. That is the only brand of shoes I wear since 1999, sucks paying $89 or $79 per pair but I have wide feet (EEE or EEEE) depending on the style or brand and not many stores carry the wider pairs.

I'm jealous. With size 15 EE feet I can't remember ever buying a shoe on sale. I have to look high and low just to pay too much for something that fits.

Recently I bought some Spira shoes with springs in the soles because of my back-but these things are amazing. I wish they had had them when I was walking 20 miles a day. ( http://www.spirafootwear.com ) I can imagine they would be a bit hot because they have heavy solid leather uppers, they also make mesh top shoes but they are supposed to be for running, however I bet they would work fine for walking (I intend to order some as summer approaches and their web site looks like they are making "model" changes for the new year.) These things are built like shoes used to be and the springs are great, no impact on the heel at all. They are very stable also -holding your foot in a proper position (my foot tends to "roll out" in most shoes-not these at all) I thought they were a gimmick and I don't know about you healthy guys but for me & my back I can walk twice or 3 times as far as I could with regular (and I mean high-end) regular walking shoes. (And they say they actually get better with use as the springs "wear in" to your weight-we'll see) They are not cheap, mine were about $130 but worth every penny and they have a different "patented" spring so they don't make you 2" taller like most "spring" shoes because the springs are so much more efficient for the height... just my 2 cents and most styles come in very large and super-widths for those of you with really big fee like the triple E--they don't have narrow, regular width is the smallest but they do go to smaller foot sizes.

I don't know how line drivers relate to shoes but I am fairly new to striping. I striped less than 75 lines before I ordered my line driver. Cost is a concern but I would suggest to anyone that as soon as you can make the payments, get a line driver and on the very first job you will be thankful and realize the convenience and time savings.

If cost is a concern remember the original inventors- LazyLiner ; is substantially cheaper than regular price on Line Drivers. Although I have seen some "new in box" Line Drivers cheaper than usual in ads & such where I guess people overstocked or something and are trying to move them. (check who you are buying from of course)

You can't afford to be without one but don't realize it. You are losing big money everyday you don't have one.

I just found an AWESOME work boot this last summer. They are a new line of CAT boots (made by Wolverine) Anyways look for the boot with " i " technology. They are designed to give the stability of a work book, yet feel like a nice athletic show. they even offer a 30 day like it or leave it guarantee. I got the "Endure" model at Sears for $80... Best shoe ever... easily replaces Merrels, New Balance etc...
