I have a very unique situation where I may need to remove Chlorinated Rubber traffic markings applied to a Urethane coated parking deck. The urethane traffic coating is the following - - http://www.lymtal.com/coatings.htm . I want to do the removal with no damage to the urethane coating underneath. I am hoping that Diedrich 606 might work without eating the urethane but I suspect that the 606 will also eat the urethane as well as the CR paint. If I have to use a mechanical means to remove the traffic markings it will damage the urethane coating causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage and possible complete removal of the urethane and recoating of the deck. Any advice or experience with this or a similar situation would surely help.

You poor expletive! I think there are some chemical strippers that might not damage the urethane. You might spot test to see. Some strippers seem to remove one layer at a time. You can run stripper through your striping machine with no ill effects. I have used my machine to spray stripper on lines, it's quick and you can control where it goes. Follow with pressure washing and expect to have to do over in places.
Not sure which of the Lymtal product used in your case Randy but if it is a rubber/ urethane non skid, based waterpoof membrane, what we did, was have soda blaster come in and remove the c/r and top layer of the waterpoof membrane, they usually have 2 or 3 coatings down. After having that removed we reaplied the membrane then painted over this. One of our blokes made a cock up, lost controll of a very full machine and had paint spill every where. Cost 8000 but the insurance covered it under public liability because it came under neglect .... he "Neglected" to put the brake on the machine! we were lucky. If need a more in depth explanation just email.
Thanks for your ideas everyone but I dodged the bullet on this one. We screwed up our layout on this underground parking garage for the State but the engineer allowed us some latitude. He decided the job looked professional and we did everything else great do he allowed our markings to remain. I did however try to talk to the manufacturer of the urethane traffic topping. The guy was a total moron and couldn't answer any of my questions. The contractor that applied the urethane believed that the Dietrich 606 would not harm it but now we will not find out on this job.
