On one of my machines, intermittently, the pressure builds up until I switch the pump off. Than after running the machine for a little while, it works fine and the pump acts normal and shuts on and off like it should. What's causing this?

The pressure sensor or control board.

It may be the transducer. Eventually it will just keep pumping pressure dangerously high until you cut it off. Better check it out.

Our 5900 recently did that and it was the transducer.
