I'm so proud of the work we did today I have to gloat to someone, and you guys are the only ones who can appreciate this. We set a record for us in productivity today. We had our usuall 3 guys and one temp for the day. In 5 hours we did... About 650 lines; 590 4" ### and 50 VISITOR on curb w/white box (after writing all the numbers on the curb first); about 5000' of fire lane that was pressure washed the day before. That 4th guy made a huge difference, and we figured out a new way to do the white boxes pretty fast. I was shocked that we had time to go do another quickie job and still get home early. I guess that makes up for the jobs that take longer than you think they will.
A good day

Obviously that wasn't a college campus appartment complex with longnecks, go-boxes, and clothes scattered between the cars, parked in their spaces because the notice taped to their door informing them the lot will be painted and to park elsewhere still remains, unread....waiting for their 2PM alarm clock set to go off. But hey....... (expletive) of a day. Nice job !!!
We're averaging ~3 miles of stripe a day so far for August..... We may break 90 miles.... a definite record month. 3 of us work on week days.... only 2 of us on Saturday... only myself on Sundays. I really need to change my negative attitude about working at night especially in this 110 degree heat. Replaced 6 Lazy Liner tires this month. Three striping machines have died so far from the stress.... One of the broken machines is down because it slung a rod!! First major problem I have ever had with a Honda motor. Hope the replacement 4900 and 6900 Speeflos are delivered soon!
Gauxt, I feel your pain... been there, done that. We got lucky on this job because the powerwasher was there before us and dealt with the all the idiots.... yelling, screaming, calling the police on two people. They were used to the tow truck by the time we got there, so no problems. We just rolled up and started painting. They only towed about 20 cars for 650 spaces. The first day of powerwashing they towed about 100, plus 2 police reports.
Jim, I've done even better than that!!!! I have finally retro-fitted one of my 3900 frames with a Speeflo 6000 pump. (It may be a 5000. Can't tell ... too much paint.) I call it a Gray-flo. She's everything iI thought it would be... Tracks straight as an arrow with no effort. And it never skips a beat with the trusty gutsy hydraulic heart. I LOVE IT! Can't wait to get the other one converted. BTW- I now have two useless (to me) electronics control boxes and two electro-mechanico ratta-tat pumps for whom-so-ever would like them. The extra Titan frames are planned for other duties. I'm planning on mounting the generators on them long with racks for hammer drills, strings, cords, etc.
A Gry-flo... I like it!. Sounds like a new business. How much for one of those.... with a cup holder? ASI.. we (rather, the property manager) have cars towed on almost every job we to in a townhouse development and oh yes, they towed about 100 cars the first day the powerwasher (our sub) was there and about 65 the next day, and the first section only had 475 spaces!. About 675 the second section. The on site property manager had them towed, with pleasure, after 2 mailings and HAND DELIVERING notices the night before. There was an incident or two (the police were called) but that little fire cracker of a woman didn't take crap from any of the residents. The powerwasher said it was scary at first but after the situation calmed down it was rather funny. It was a big ordeal just to powerwash the little white boxes (the curb by itself would not have been an issue), but it is SO worth it. The paint lasts much longer and people are starting to realize that. Anyway, when we got there, only about 20 cars had to be towed each day. I guess they learned their lesson.
