Would like to find out about acetone paint. How many use it? How do you like it? Do you leave it in your machine very long? Cleaning from oil based to acetone and the other way around. What is the process? What do I use? Can I leave acetone cleaner in the machine? I tried it and it did spray okay.

I'll take a crack at this one: Almost everyone in the OTC area has to use it. It does cost more than hotline or of oil based you cant use. I love it. We sprayed around 8000 gallons last year and just got in 3000 gallons this yoear to start. Some of my machine only have been cleaned out for servicing only. Going from oil based to acetone - basically the same, just flush your system. Yes we leave the acetone thinner in the machines. Jim
I do about 50% selacoat striping and have to use latex, I want to use the acetone for the other 50% of the time. My paint rep told me that I should have a dedicated hose for the acetone paint or I will have a lot of problems with clogs. any information on this would help greatly. I'm thinking if I flush good with MEK I should be alright.
The dedicated hose sounds like a great idea. If you do try using a dedicated hose, it would also be a good idea to keep the ends of the line closed when not on the machine. Crusty boogers are more of a head-ache. Others say it is possible, but I have never been 100% successful in cleaning adequately when changing from latex to solvent (and vice versa). No matter what the routine of flushing liquids used, still have stop-ups for a day or so. I've tried everything from MEK to alcohol.
