Am bidding a small airport job that requires 2000' of 6" white reflectorized line sandwiched between 4" black paint with no beads. I only have a 2 gun setup. Any advice for painting this would be helpful.

Pull a long rope for the six inch white line put your guns together spray the white and finish up with your black down spread your guns out and shoot the black.

We spray a 6.5 inch black in the outersides of the lines and in the middle Then we get a stringline and place where we gonna stripe and use it to guide ourselves. B sure to use the right spec glass beads type 3 and the paint.

Have never done a line like that but sounds like good plan to me. Might also want to check the exclusions section on your insurance policy. I know my previous carrier excluded airport work. I found out when bid a heliport and called for a certificate to be faxed.

Type I is also approved and quite abit cheaper....

I have done quite a bit of this striping at HJAIA. We usually layout and paint the white then apply beads. Once that is dry then use the edge of white to paint the black. Airport work is easy money.

i like doing the black first so that my white doesnt have black overspray. Type 1 beads will work but the standard is type 3.

Thanks for the tips. The specs call for type 1 beads.

I beg to differ....we only use Type III on enhanced markings...

Hey Guys, I didn't see a place where I could ask this in another forum? Has anyone used the material (pothole repair) as listed on www.geocheminc.com ? We have a parking lot that has quite a few potholes and some gatoring. They do not want to do a full repave at this time. We're looking for something simple, other than hot mix, that our crew can handle. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

try looking in the sealcoating section of the forum index, it will redirect you to another forum full of sealcoating amd asphalt repair forums that is very interesting.

I have not used that, but I use the Lafarge QPR with great results! http://www.lafargenorthamerica.com/wps/portal/ !ut/p/kcxml/04_Sj9SPykssy0xPLMnMz0vM0Y_QjzKLN4p3NwLJgFjGpvqRyCIG8Y5wgSB9b31fj_zcVP0A_YLc0IhyR0dFAMZgrLA!/delta/base64xml/L3dJdyEvd0ZNQUFzQUMvNElVRS82XzJfRlM!?WCM_GLOBAL_CONTEXT=/wps/wcm/connect/LNA/Products/Asphalt/Pavement+Repair/Product_QPR/Product_QPR Well, can't post the whole link, so go to Lafarg web site, and check it out.

OK,I have a new parking garage I am striping in April and want to use SW Hotline.I have used SW hotline on some outside concrete lots and it did fine.Personal feelings about latex paint aside, what have you guys who have done parking garages experienced is the best.CR oil,or would 2 coats of latex work OK.

I would use an alkyd paint vs. a latex. In my experience the alkyd holds up better on concrete.

Ditto. or aceitone.

I'd go with one coat of Chlorinated Rubber. If you decide to use latex, do not put two coats. For parking garages, more paint is not better - more paint causes more problems. It usually does not wear off because it is not usually high traffic.

I've used aexcell high performance acrylic (oil based) with great results. It tends, to not pick up as much dust and rubber from the tires. Also driess really quick.

dbarnettt, Report#17

That acrylic does dry quick, and like dbarnett said, it holds up well.

Better check the spec. sheets. Parking garages usually spec the paint to be used.

we only use type 3 on airport marking but ohio joe said that thats what the specs call for. I also would not EVEr spray any color before the black would go on. I find it diificult to put down black paintright on the edge of white or yellow without having a tolerance gap crossing over to the yellow or not being on the edge of the yellow. CORPS o0f Engineers only allow me a 1/8th to a 1/2 of an inch deviant tolerance. That is why I rather spray the black first and then throw my string lines down the runway/taxiway and $hing $hing! Everything looks sharp like that. Hmm, maybe that is why the Laughlin Airforce Base in Del Rio TX have kept us as their preffeed striping outfit since 2000.
