hey fellas, picked up a titan side striper(u hook gun to a portable type striper for tight spots that u cant get to with regular airless etc..), on ebay brand new, and got very cheap, for any of u that know what they are or have one, how do u like it?(pros or cons), i never used one or been around one, but for what i paid for it compared to what they go for new thru titan, i figure i cant go wrong, but curious on any feedback....thanks

You won't go wrong until you try to use it. It will make a big mess if you aren't careful.....too flimsy. The weight of the hose is more than enough to affect the stripe. Sorry....been there, tried that. However, the cable and gun holder are adaptable for other uses. The cart and wheels are pretty much useless.
It's a good idea, but it's not too hard to build one that's lots better. Check out the photo gallery here: http://parkinglotplanet.com/photo_gallery.htm Scroll down and look for the "Mini Me"
Just a note on the "LineCheater" which is probably the one in the photo . Things have slowed down a bit for him for the winter so JP contacted me the other day about getting the website up for selling those and his radius painting gizmo's. It may be a while before we get it on-line but he's been thinking about it for a year, just been to busy painting. Much better built than the Titan thing and the "original" by about 3 years. And for my pal Joey , who I know reads everything I write, This is WAY off topic (I get away with it since I help administer these boards which unlike your 2000 model are state-of-the-art) but your Mapquest doesn't take into account driving in a major city during rush hour or going 20 miles out of the way to the paint store. I know there's no 6 lane bumper-to-bumper traffic in Felicity so you can't comprehend but down here Mineral Wells is considered part of the D/FW Metroplex (and if you watch the news for D/FW we're on there) and why they always use Dallas first instead of Fort Worth when referring to this area is something only the "powers" like the people who named the airport (which is in neither one either) would know. Just been that way as long as I can remember so I do it to.
thanks for insight guys...as mentioned before, i dont stripe alot, this season i could of use this thing maybe a few times/stalls, "hopefully" it will do ok on a few stalls here and there and i am not looking to use on a daily basis or alot, but i will beware of it being flimsy or hose weight....i found this link (foriegn i guess with $ amts) but the video demo's make it look like it works great (of course) if it helps me on at least one or two cars that i cant get moved (cause in way) and dont have to wait or come back etc...i will be glad, by the way i see the guy in the demo "holds" the hose up, so maybe that might help on what u say ken about weight of hose... http://www.airless.com.au/Wagner%20Linemarkers.htm
I am not just saying this because of Jp's web site. The Titan-Wagner thing is a JOKE. Flimsy is not completely accurate. Wobbly, lightweight, rickety, cheap, thin aluminum tubing, cheap type wheels... get your hands on one before you spend ANY $$. They used to want close to $300 (I don't know now) and there couldn't have been $15-$20 in the little thing. I have personally held one, pushed it, felt it wobble on a concrete showroom floor when assembled by Titan reps so I mean it when I say flimsy doesn't describe it fully.
Johnny, Be sure to try it in a remote area for testing before you attempt to stripe between two cars with it. It takes longer to correct the mistakes it causes than to use straight edges and stencil the stripe by hand. Hope you have better luck with it than I did. At $225, I felt severely ripped-off by Titan and Sherwin Williams.
Jims Line Cheater is hands down superior to the side striper. There is simply no comparison between the two. I have one of each and when Jim is ready to sell a line cheater for our 2nd trailer, the side striper will be thrown in the trash. I acquired the Side Striper as part of buying out a local retiring striper who had a small operation but would never have bought one new.
thanks again guys...i have not recieved it yet, (and not sure i want to now ) i will give it a try..dont look good though on these rave reviews...but again if it helps on just a couple times on cars in the way...i will be happy....if not i will re sell it on ebay or smash it and figure lesson learned
WHATS GOING ON YA LL I GOT A BIT OF INFO. I HAD 3 JOBS WHO CALLED ME BACK ON 1-8-06 ABOUT MY PAINT CHANGING COLOR 2 JOBS ARE ASPHALT AND THE OTHER CONCRETE I USE CHLORINATED RUBBER AND HAVE FOR 6 YEARS AND NEVER HAD YELLOW TURN TO PINK WELL I LOOKED AT MY INVOICES AND THE PAINT I USED WAS THE LAST 4 OF A SKID BOUGHT 10-12-05 JUST SOME INFO. I THOUGHT I WOULD CHUNK OUT TO FELLOW PAINTERS BOUGHT PAINT FROM SHERWIN - WILLIAMS IN MESQUITE ON GROSS RD. ( THE FALL BACK GUYS )
Ronnie, I've had red turn to pink. But, I've never had yellow turn to pink. That would be really hard to make happen. Of course, I've had yellow turn brown after applying it over coal tar seal coat..... but never pink.... That's really weird.
