Wonder if anyone else had any trouble trying to register at the pavement site for Charlotte? http://www.nationalpavementexpo.com/pave/index.po Very annoying, 2 days now. Don maybe you should host for them so they don't have so many broken links. Maybe it's my computer , but that is the only site I have been having any trouble at.

Don't get me started on Pavement this month. Have you noticed their "featured article" contractor who does all his own striping uses a "Trusco"? Yep, that's who I'd pick as a contractor for a feature article (no personal offense, I don't know the contractor, just the quality of his striping equipment...& they "masking tape" the ends of driveways when sealing...sheesh, that's a time & money saver) Or the "backwards" sealcoating picture on the cover? (We always try to seal from the coated pavement towards the uncoated ...the trailer is parked where the guy could only do 1 pass and he has the wand in the air trying to spray the cars a block away kind-of obviously over-staged.) Their whole web site & stuff "has problems" at times for now and the guys at Pavement know it, but it's not their "deal". It's all been recently merged into a "super-site" with all their different magazines like Asphalt Contractor and their related Mags and it's all so they can get more hits & sell ads. They now offer magazine advertisers "packages" with your ad in several magazines & on the web site etc. instead of the "old way" of just an ad where you want. Of course the "package" is cheaper than individual ads but they knew no one magazine web site would ever get enough traffic to make anybody want to buy an ad so they made the "super-site" and it's been about half-broken from the word go. Cygnus has a whole new "electronic media" department that is supposed to be working on getting all the bugs out of the "mega-site". It's a part of the inevitable "big corporation type" stuff that's happening since Cygnus owns like 80+ magazines. They are big and in business to get bigger...it's the American way. The shows are actually run by a separate company "Cygnus Expositions" and evidently there is now like a "web" division. It makes it hard on the individual magazine guys like Allan because all these things are handled by their separate corporate divisions but all are still tied to Pavement etc.

That guy on the cover had a story done about him once already before. Yea I noticed about that guy stiping with that high dollar piece of equipment. And how in the world did they find out about this guy in the first place. It says that it was his first year. Yea he has been doing it for another company for a while but to start out a paving company on your own is got to be hard the first year. He must of doen alot of weekend sealing work to buy 80% newer equipment. It is like a couple of issues before they had a compnay that would look for thee sealer to last 5 years with only 2 coats. If that is the case I need to get me a sealing buggy and don't put anymore sand in my second mix. -Dean
