Striping is a lot of walking - just wondering if anyone has a boot they swear by. I get the Wolverines 6" boots. They last from 9 months to a year. Been sticking with them for the last ten years. I've tried Timberland, Redwings, Sears Diehards, Caterpillar, etc. I even got a pair of Stanleys for $40 once that lasted a little while. Afraid trying anything else is just a crapshoot. I have found the Redwings feel great but don't last long. Same with Timberlands. I really liked the CATs but they're expensive and I have hard time getting the right size/fit. Sears Diehards are probably the cheapest of these but there is no tread.

I gave up on heavy boots. I keep a pair in the truck for the jobs that I have to have em on but will change back to my new balance when they aren't looking. last sunday I wore my flip flops. LOL on asphalt and concrete I think any shoe will have a limited life.
Safety rules and safety officers are like any bureaucratic issue. Logic & thought do not ever play a part. Just blind obedience to "The Rules". Years ago I was on a project in a street sweeper and the Safety supt. came and told me that I had to have long pants and a hard hat and a vest. I asked him if he would sign me out or do I need the foreman to do it. It was 97 degrees and Mobil brand sweepers are all steel with no insulation so the engine turns the cab into an oven. A vest adds a layer clothes to hold in heat as well as a hard hat. Story ends with three officials in a conference with me agreeing that I could finish the day. I informed them that I was scheduled for the next day too. I told them nothing changes tomorrow so decide do I leave now or can we apply a little common sense to this particular issue. I ended up returning to the job site several times through its completion. This was over 20 years ago today the rule nazi's have too much power.
