Definetly get the 1/4 or 3/16" inch hose on your "stencilling" gun. To make things even easier put a swivel between the hose and gun. If you are painting a lot of stencils by yourself, to avoid rolling up the hose while moving from one stencil to the next, mount a 1" piece of rectangular aluminum 6' long vertically on the handle of the striper with hose clamps. Install a "hook" near the top of the aluminum. Just hang the gun on the hook as you move from stencil to stencil. You should have plenty of hose to paint the stencils. Also, adding a 30" extension to the gun makes stencilling a lot more enjoyable and saves some wear and tear on the back.
I had mine replaced with a 1/2 inch when the pressure control was replaced. A 3500. Was not told. Mech said it would help with pump surge. I never had a problem with the 3/8 hose previously on. So I had to adjust my discharge time while emptying the paint and cleaning. Think it is a waste of paint in the hose. I run 50 feet. So use the 3/8 or 1/4, shouldn't have a problem. At least I have more length for diffrent projects now. Ran 100 feet at friends house while priming inside, without presure issues. Machine outside of course.
I bought one from him last spring and works great.Do not have alot of use for where I am at ,as only Costco and two other places ( Applied Materials bought old Costco building when they moved) has that layout . Worth the small investment tho. Let a guy in another town rent it and almost paid for it plus he was really happy.
I use mine often and I only clean it when switching colors. The graco I use mostly I bought in 2003 and like I said I only clean it when switching colors. I have one machine that keeps blue in it at all times and it has exactly that. Blue paint as we speak. Last fall I did 32 lowes and my machines never let me down except for repacking the pump on one due to thousands of gallons of paint ran through it. Its just like a can of paint. If the lid is shut completely the paint will not harden. Exactly the same with the gracos. As long as the filters are summerged and all air is shut off from the hoses the paint will not set up. I crank the machines, jump on the rider and start spraying. Granite, when i do clean them I make sure to clean them very well
