Getting ready to bid a Wegmans in my local area. The bid is an online "live" bid done through Intersource. It's kind of a hassle. You gotta be "accepted to bid" then "invited to bid", accept their multi page disclamer, then "certified to bid". Then you can bid live online for one day. Anybody ever bid a job this way? I'm not too worried about it because Wegmans is a pretty good company, it's the Intersource thing that's got me a little weirded out. I feel like saying... "can't I just send you a proposal? If you want me to do the work, sign it and send it back". There is no way I would be doing all this if it wasn't winter! And don't they realize that when contractors have to do all this crap, there is a frustration factor added to the bid ? Oh well, more money for me... I hope.
Have done one on line bid about three years ago, for Kroger. Once you are in then it is not that much of a big deal. Just remember that there are some out there that will bid so low you will not be able to understand there bids. Just bid your game plan. Bob PS yes i did win the bid.
The link is.. http://www.intesource.com Not sure what you can do by contacting Intesouce directly. I gave a card to the Manager at Wegmans and they had Intesource call me. Thanks for the reply Bob. I thought that it might get easier after the first one, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a nightmare meeting their requirements or getting paid.
Been there done that with internet bids. They try to get the lowest bids. But.......even if you are the lowest bid you are not guaranteed the job, they just try to get thier present striper to do the jobs lower. This is not like bidding state jobs were they must go with the lowest bidder.
Striping: you were correct in the aspect of meeting there requirements and getting paid. The one job that i was able to obtain through this type of system had a 25 page contract and it was all written in there favor. As for payment well that was another problem as time went along. Should you get this contract read it closely and should any part of it not be right for you walk away or have the contract changed to your liking before signing it. Believe me it will be better to do that than end up with problems later. Bob
