Dwan, I watched a guy use one of these to clean off a warehouse lot. It looked very efficient. I have thought about cleaning lots to capture more business. Have you cleaned lots with your broom? How did you go about pricing? How much did the broom cost? Thanks, Rock
Rock, yes I clean lots with it. Mostly in the spring for spring cleanup. then I switch to a vacuum unit (Elgin Air Cub) for my weekly contracts. Pricing as with most of my business except striping is done by the hour. Customer pays for the work that he gits and I get paid for the work I do. (as fare as it gets) I got a deal on this one $6500 it should have been around $10K used. it also came with 2 large Mall contracts. What a deal. This sweeper along with other equipment allows me to offer a full service contracts to my customers, Snow plowing, sanding, removal, sweeping, and striping. Sweeping amounted to about 42% of my income this year, or a little over $100,000. Rock, look at the lots in your area and see if they need cleaned, if they do then it may be worth it.
Now that it's winter we've been having some good chats at my old chat room http://parkingworld.com/chat/phpMyChat.php3 Stop by this evening, some folks will be there around 8:30 but they didn't say which time zone. Remember if you use AOL your browser may not work (you can see it but not post) and there have been some similar problems with Firefox. If you have problems just use IE (it's old software, what can I say)
That thing looks like it is worth more than 10K now that you let loose with the Krylon, I would have went for Dub wheels instead of the $4 hubcaps though . Before anyone gets any ideas on using one of these to sweep lots etc they had better look into their local dust regulations, hate to have a guy invest hard earned dollars into one only to be shut down be the greenies...
Water tank on the front controls about 90% of the dust. tis true there are dust makers if not run in the rain or without water. That is part of the reason it is not my only sweeer the vacume is about 98% dust free. As far as greenes here, We have a few of the little buggers and because it is the state capitol they think they should control everything. That is also part of the reasonwhy the cost of living here Higher. I charge them more. The hubcaps were a last resort. I am looking for a set of 15" x 8" ford custom wheels for it but had to cover up the rusty wheels in the meen time. This unit works best in the rain. Kind of scrubs the lot at the same time. The other sweepers used to find out what works best. Which I still have.
What exactly is the problem? Be sure you don't have cookies or such blocked or active content since it's live. Usually the only problem we've seen is people on AOL & sometimes Firefox can log in but their posts don't show up. Can't recall anyone who just can't login
