Let me ask this question. What drill bit manufactor are ya'll using? We are using Bosch right now with a hammer drill and I saw the other day there were two other brands of drill bits that we could buy. We are having good luck with bosch bits in asphalt but we have not used them in concrete yet. Also how long are ya'lls bits lasting? -Dean

We use the 18 inch by 5/8 for curb stops and we use mostly Bosch. The 18 inch lets you stand up straighter when drilling. If using a 12 inch and drilling all the way through 6 inch concrete you have to either lightly drill for a mark, move the curb stop and then drill or risk grinding away the bottom of your hammer drill on the top of the curb stop. The 18 inch eliminates your having to mark your holes. Just place curb stop and drill. I would like to offer a safety precaution--Always keep the body of the drill against your right leg with your foot on top of the stop. This keeps the drill from spinning and damaging the fingers or wrist. I find these quite often on Ebay in the $10 to $15 area including shipping. I would guess 3-400 holes in asphalt before they are worn down. We throw them away when they either start binding up in the hole because of the worn down smaller tip and larger shaft or when you realize the diameter is not allowing rebar to go in as easy.
