I need to buy a drill to use for core drilling for signs and for rebar pins for bumper blocks. Can anyone recomend a good drill?

I have a Hilti hammer drill that I use for wheels stops it works great, and I rent a Hilti hand held core drill. The hand held core drill is a much bigger drill and has a clutch. I don't know if they make one for both applications.

i go a Hilti DD160 with a stand off ebay for 900.00. If you need to core bigger than 12 inches go with the dd200. New they run about 1800.00 but you have it forever. Jim

Hilti is best n the market. You might consider renting one first.. Like the other ones said at least a 12" bit.

I was thinking of buying a hammer drill and using different bits for each.

Really need a core drill for post, hammer drill for whell stop pins. I have used the core bit for the hammer drill, and it is no fun, but a core drill is set up and watch it do all the work kind of tool.

IMO the best hammer drill made is a Hilti.

Bosch makes a good hammer drill and Target makes a less expensive stand type core drill one that takes up to 4" bits and the other up to 6" bits. I had the 6" one it takes water to cool the bits and make them last longer. I got along great with it.

Bought a Hilti TE 56 combi hammer drill today with a 27" long chisel and a 3 9/16 core bit. I'll use the chisel to bust thru asphalt also to ream a hole down into the ground then my hope is the base post should go in nice and easy. Up here in PA there is no such thing as good soft ground its half rocks and trying to just sledge hammer a post in the ground is brutal. I have about 20 signs to do in the near future some in soil and some thru concrete I'll let you know how it works out. oh yea hilti has a grounding rod driver bit that will work for driving rebar I'll get that when I get some bumper blocks to do.

I have the same unit. I use a pump sprayer with soapy water to keep the bit cool while i drill with it. Real nice unit.

I rent a hand held hilti core drill for around $115 per day, and that includes all the wear on the bit. I use a 4" bit and then have to got to home depot to rent a 3" auger to dig the hole out.
