Good, Better, Best Menu Proposals

I used the good, better and best proposal years ago but felt that it confused too many of the people I was trying to do work for and the rest would say something like "so your willing to do sub standard work" because you had to explain your lowest grade which was sealer with no additive and no sand or maybe a pound of sand. The good better best proposal just listed like "good" was sealer no additive and 35% water, then better might be sealer, 2% additive 3 pounds of sand per gallon and best might be sealer, 4 % latex, 5 pounds of sand and a third coat on the lanes or entrance and exits you could say and just list each one with the price per square yard and total. Like I said I didnt have much luck with it for the above reasons. Don. if you would be so kind as not to go into a long winded explanation of my own experiences and/or deficiencies with my good, better, and best proposal and why mine failed to be as successful as yours I would appreciate it.
we use options 1 & 2 Depends on the job. The process is really for jobs that have different aspects of the jobs. For example we just won two jobs because of the options package we offer. Option 1 Has Seal Coating, Asphalt Patching & Pavement Marking Option 2 Has Seal Coating, Asphalt Patching, Crack Sealing & Pavement Marking When people see that we offer different options it allows them to choose how to spend their money. I am not going to asay it will work every time (because it doesn't) but we do get alot of people choosing us because we are offering them options. -Dean
Get in touch with me personally (I can't do a 90 minute seminar in a post) but properly used the "menu" proposal is the easiest way for someone without superior sales abilities to achieve much better results and higher profits. I think there are a few participants here who have taken my seminars and actually "used as directed" and they can tell you what it did for their bottom line. The main thing to remember: is the way I use them is as a vital tool in an overall plan Leave out any part of the entire "system" and the effectiveness of menu proposals drops. They are always better than straight proposal BUT used as part of an overall system they become many-many times more effective. Usually the people who have poor results with them are some one who caught part of the idea or saw someone else's and kind-of copied it, then they don't seem to work so well and people get turned off. That's why I won't just post a "sample', you won't get the entire idea or know what to do with the sample. Used properly as part of the overall system the results can be amazing. BTW: This seminar will definitely be in Vegas this fall and I can't comment on NPE yet but you can pretty well expect it (the pricing-by-value seminar, which includes menu proposals as a safety net for people to learn to sell for higher prices without fear of failure) To close: My favorite analogy: If you went in an "average" restaurant 15 years ago there would be few if any appetizers maybe a couple of things (more only in "upscale" places) Now every Chili's, Applebee's, Bennigan's, TGI Friday's (one of the best) and even Hooters (which has other attractions but mainly serves appetizers--hot wings... has tons of junk, overpriced cheese sticks, onion blossoms, wings, potato skins (great idea, they used to throw those out) a dozen dip choices... WHY? because most people order one of them!! WHY didn't people buy them 15 years ago? They weren't on the menu, and no customer in any business can run up a bigger bill unless they are given an opportunity to spend more. And that includes pavement services! Same reason all that miscellaneous stuff 10' long is on the "aisle" you have to go down between you and the cash register at Wal-Mart... gives you one last chance to spend a bit more on your way out... Now tell the truth : ever order an appetizer you know is overpriced or "super size" that soda at the drive-thru when you could buy a 2 liter bottle for that price at the grocery, or pick up some little thing off those racks at Wal mart?---Come on, tell the truth...
