Good morning guys and Happy Mother's Day Ladies, I've been doing small jobs ($500 or less) for a short time now. I'm trying to get a proposal ready for a large business lot and I need a little help. This building and lot used to be a pre-Supercenter Wal-Mart and has close to 500 spaces, 1500' yellow curbing and 300' of fire lane. I know you probably won't get into pricing specifics but at what point do you lower your per ft price?
Happy Mother's Day and I have a question about restriping job proposals.

When 773H freezes over. I give a discount for cash, loyal long turm customers, customers who have me do other work throught the year, (plowing, sweeping, etc) Family, Customers who just say do the work with out asking a price, but never for volume work. I feel I have more at risk the larger the job. I can only charge 1 setup and delivery charge, More money invested in materials till I get paid. It is also harder for me to fit a large job into the small window of weather here. Just my 2 cents Dwan
I guess I'm different from the others that have posted, I have basically have3 pricing methods, 1: customers I don't really want the work from (various reason)-priced very high. 2: customers that have small to medium lots that I know nothing about - normal pricing. 3: regular customers with very large lots or multiple (6+)properties that I get every year - prefered pricing. I'm not suggesting others do it this way but it seems to be working for me and I'm making money at it. If I priced every Large lot I wouldn't get any at all....for these 2 reasons: lots of competition here (24 other line painter just in the yellow pages alone) and poperty managers who aren't too fussy about top quality because they know they are going to just be painting again in 1 year. I think alot of times there's more money in small jobs than the big ones. If you think your price is fair for a $500 job then why is the same price per foot not fair on a $5,000 job. I have a price sheet that i give with the quote that breaks down the cost. This way when the PM's talk no one feels cheated. I have learned over the past 4 years quality out sells quantity.
