Not to mention his fuel consumption for jet air travel and Escalades, while he expects us to ride buses and car pool in a Civic. Typical liberal hypocritical BS

Sad but true!! Maybe more taxes on small business owners would fix the problem

LOL, (speaking of hypocrisy) you telling me if you could afford a warehouse-sized mansion in the Belle Meade section of Nashville, you wouldn't have a $2000 'lectric bill? You ever figured out how much it costs to heat and cool 20,000 square feet? If I had ol' Al's money, I sure wouldn't waste my time trying to keep the Chinese from polluting our air, I'd be building me a big enough beach house so that if the ice caps did melt, I'd still have a couple floors above high tide to watch the sunset from....Al's an idiot trying to tell American's to drive smaller cars! It is my God-given right to drive a Suburban that gets 8 mpg. Me and the dog need room for our stuff! All this talk 'bout global warming is bad for big business. As long as the Arabs have oil for the oil companies to make record profits on, let's keep on building Suburbans and Expeditions to burn it! Russkies got plenty of oil to sell us too!. Heck, since we went to Iraq, my Exxon stock has doubled and my Hess Oil stock has quadrupled (I have a order in with my broker to sell it all if they announce we are pulling out of Iraq). Anyway, ol' Al oughta quit worrying about what kind of world his grandchildren are gonna inherit and start insulating his dang mansion! Oh, and Ken....Al lost the election. You can quit worrying about him. The Democrats (and the Dixie Chicks) are having too much fun watching Dubya's approval rating head for single digits to give him a second thought. Don't worry about Hillary either. Women won't even vote for a Republican woman if she ran for president. On a lighter note....Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is building a 30,000 square foot house nearby. Evidently he wants to make sure the ice caps melt while a Republican is in the White House. And me? I ain't got no grandchildren, so I ain't got to worry about what kind of world they are going to inherit. Now pardon me, the dog wants to go for a swim, so I think we'll load up the Suburban and take the 154 mile trip to her favorite island..... One last question: Anybody figured out how the oil forecasters know that gas is going to hit $3/gallon right at the beginning of summer vacation driving season? That is darned amazing prognostication if you ask me...

BTS, No figuring out to do. Any holiday, will drive up gas prices. They have progressively gone up since christmas. You did not expect the oil companies to cut us a break for the summer. They F'd us right after the hurricanes and nothing happened to them. Why would you not think gas could and probably will hit $ 3 or even $4 a gallon? Politicians are like our competitors center lines, CROOKED!!!

In all fairness to Al, I understand he justifies his energy usage by buying all of it from renewable resources. Not sure where he found a renewable resource for the significant amount of natural gas the house consumes. Perhaps he has found a way to use "hot air".

I have my own theory: Global Warming was being caused by The Oiltown Trio singing their briefly popular hit "Weapons Of Mass Destruction". All that hot air was causing the ice caps to melt. Their followup songs, "Mission Accomplished", and "Iran Holiday" were not as popular, so maybe now Halliburton & Schlumberger's "Smoke From A Distant War" will cool the planet down and the icemakers at the poles can start making ice cubes again. H&S's new single "One War, Two Wars, Three Wars, A Dollar" is due out this spring, but critics are giving it a cool reception. In other music news, The Congressional Club has a new tune coming out, a remake of "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" called "Where Did All The Money Go?". A couple comments on the topics in the thread.... The so called "summer blend" of gas is supposed to hit here in the North East this week. And the price is supposed to jump about 30-40 cents a gallon. What I still can't figure out is, what the h&ll is with the price of diesel. It was always cheaper than regular gas? It under goes less refining steps than that of regular gas, so logically it would be cheaper to manufacture. Am I missing something? Also, I agree with BTS. I have a right to jump in my F-450 (6-8 mpg-10mpg down hill) and haul my 36' skater to the sound, where I can burn a couple hundred gallons of fuel for the day just blasting across the sound for no good reason at all, but to see if I can break 92 mph on my way to Connecticut for a cold one, and some little neck clams with my friends for lunch...... I'm voting for Rudy in 2008...... Whitey---->

Funny thing, diesel was always a good bit cheaper than gas until (1) we got an extra million trucks on the road but mainly (b) we got millions of pickups with all the PowerStrokes, Duramax's, and Cummins... not too long after the "diesel pickup boom" diesel became more expensive than gas and just kept going... of course now they will blame it on the "enviro" blends thy are having to use

I know the demand has gone up. But, is it enough to cause the price to be more than 40 cents more than regular gas at times? I only see it being this high in the last three to five years....And it never changes price (+/-)nearly as much as regular gas and the markets.

Ok Ok, I'm going to open the can of worms...if we elected to buy the 8-12 mpg city beast, whether, cummins, powerstroke, duramax, etc. because of the hauling power, suck it up, pay the extra bucks, make more money, buy more diesel, make more money, buy more diesel... sounds like the old cocaine commercials of the 90's.

This is your diesel.... This is your diesel on overpriced fuel that paid for a $400M retirement package... Doesn't ANYONE find a $400 million retirement package* just a little bit obscene? That is something we should go Hmmmm about. Kinda makes Al's humongous gas bill look like a penny laying in the street, eh? ZOMG I totally forgot to rebut Ken's post by urging everyone to watch a little movie called "ENRON, The Smartest Guys in the Room". Or as my LIBERAL friend calls it: "Republicans Gone Wild - Show Us Your $-$'s!" *Chairman of Exxon/Mobil's retirement package. Does not include the $6,000/hour salary he was making while at the helm.
