I find that some jobs stay brighter longer than others...how do I get it to stay bright all the time does it have to do with drying time, temperature, cleanliness of the lot? It seems to be random...any suggestions

I have a lot questions for ya Are you striping over fresh sealer and using oil based? If so thats a no no Is there alot of traffic on the lines after you have sprayed them? Traffic can do that to you. Are they dirty lines? You can angle your gun Slight forward and will blow some of the debris out of the way. But you need to make sure to make a effort to get some most of the out of the way before hand. What kinda paint are you using? Latex or oil based? Are you putting enough paint down? Don't get me wrong but fresh asphalt will act like a sponge and that will allow the dirt to basically over power the brightness. How long as it been since it has rain there? Some of the time rain will wash the dirt off of the lines. If you are using a air machine instead of a airless you got me on that one? What color is losing its brightness? Yellow, White, or blue? Are you straining and mixing your paint before you spray? You have got to do this because you have to get the soilds from the bottom of the bucket in the paint. Either sotore them upside down before hand or on the way to job so they not just sitting on the bottom of the bucket. There is alot of more I am sure of it but people here will know the answer. Hope it helps -Dean

I have seen new lines get so gray after traffic gets on them that the customer called me and asked when I was going to paint them. They looked more faded than before I painted them. In this case I was using water based paint and opened it for trafffic as soon as I thought it was dry. Even though it was dry to the touch, it was still tacky. And it was a dirty concrete lot. When the cars drove over the paint, dirt from their tires stuck to the paint and left it dull and gray. Most paints will do this to one degree or another. I have only found one that always stays bright and white - Technical Coatings Supreme. it's an oil based that dries hard and semi-gloss, and doesn't pick up dirt.

Sorry about the spelling RippedHog. I'm glad you didn't have your handy dandy red pen to circle and highlight my typo. Yes I live in the South, not from the South. I was smart enough to stop here and not make a wrong turn out of Albuquerque and end up in North Carolina.
