Life is a b----, I have spent many a night lately doing a sit down restaurant chain at night, they close at 11:00 and open at 6:00. I am getting really wore out striping during the day for 2 smaller asphalt contractors and striping 2-3 nights a week all night. I am 3/4 done and will be glad when the restaurants are all done.

6 hours or a little less in 48 or a little more hours for me. Trying to seal and stripe Outback Steakhouse, and a bank. The outback people didn't leave till after 1am, and some get there at 9am, they open at 3pm to 4pm, and won't let us close anything down for more than a few hours, plus they want it broke up into 3 stages. Clean and seal from 12:30 or 1am to about 3 or 4am, go home sleep till 7am, start day, seal their 2nd coat, go elsewhere come back and stripe at 2pm. The crap is tacky after 4 or 5 hours and they want it done anyway. Man, what a job!! I'll pass next time, but we should've at least demanded the employees (9 cars) park on the hard dirt lot while we closed a third down for 24 hours. Better planning next time, but this was a last minute thing, with a small envelope, and plenty of pressure.

ASI, we don't mess with parking lot maintenance - just signs and pavement marking and your experience reinforces or decision to stay away from providing maintenance.

I agree, I pick and choose sealing. I stay away from headaches. With the right planning and cooperation from owners/staff you can pull them off. Its from experience that saves me the hassel. I have had to make several trips to do a CVS. I lost a lot of money on that job. I tend to steer clear from 24hr stores now. One mans junk is anothers treasure. I don't like truning down work so sometimes I bid high. If I get the job then it is worth the hasle. Sealing does provide good income but it does have its drawbacks... Im just rambeling......Stupid rain again. It was 96 in Massachusetts with 94% humidity. Lovely day for sealing and striping. I think I lost 10 lbs just hooking up the trailer!

We just finished doing many lots on an overnight schedule.... Now we are all bright awake throughout the morning hours.... woo hoo!!! Guess I'll sit on PLP a while!!! We do night work, but when you do it for a week or two straight and get on that schedule your days off are boring.
