We installed 6 HC signs w/u-channel posts in concrete yesterday 90deg to curb but parking stalls are 60deg. Any ideas on re-angling them short of digging up and re-posting? Anyone ever heat the u-channel and twist w/pipe wrench? Get some angle brackets made??? THANKS for any examples of solutions. /Don

I have heated the channel before to bend it make sure to keep torch head away from concrete it will pop at ya and leave holes in concrete. after it is bent let it cool sand down and paint the channel green again.

Good thing about round post is that angle don't matter. Depending on the gage, you may can heat it and bend it.

Check out Xccessories Squared. http://www.x-sqrd.com They make an angle bracket that is not on the website, but is in their catalog.

You might try some tubing (aluminum or something that won't rust) and use as a shim on one side of the post between sign and post.. Try different sizes to get the desired effect or angle. I'd start with 1/2 inch or so and go up from there. Might even have to redrill the hole over to one side to keep the head of the bolt flat against sign. This is southern engineering and you will have to be the judge as to whether it looks good or not. This is not from past experience. This is just what I would try if I didn't have any thing else to work with and the job had to be finished. Let us know. From past experience, I can tell you the poles will break before they bend. Never tried heat.

We use round pipe here. But, I'd be for digging enough around the channel post to hide the twist you put in it. Heat ought to do the trick. If there isn't any fill on top of the concrete to hide the twist, a gradual twist shouldn't be too unsightly.

Pull the posts and do it right. It is never worth it in time, aggravation and reputation to do less than the best!

We use a homemade post straightener, it is has a "U" shaped piece of steel welded to a 6' piece of heavy pipe.(the "u" is just wide enough to slip around the face of the post) This twists posts very well. If you use the tool at the top of the post it will put the twist over the length of the post so it won't even be noticed. No need to heat or repaint...
