Has anyone benefited from the NPCA insurance? Has anyone received price quotes. My insurance keeps going up and up. I'm afraid to open the mail box. Time for a change.!!

As far as we know, no one has received their quotes back yet. We were unsure of how this all worked (it is brand-new after all) and some of our members have said they are waiting on the quotes. Evidently there is some basic paperwork that must go back & forth before the specific quote is issued. We would presume this is because of the great differences in contractor's sizes and the different services they provide as well as the different types of coverage available. This was what made it so tough and took so long to get a company to be able to offer such a program for pavers, stripers, sealcoaters, pressure washers, etc. and the endless possible combinations of these services. We have asked member's to e-mail us with how much the difference was as soon as they receive their quotes but are still awaiting initial responses.

I'm giddy as a schoolgirl regarding our business insurance. We renewed on June 1st and our renewal for the 2005 - 2006 season has come in over 40% lower that the proposed renewal quote by our existing carrier. I shopped the prices with 4 other agencies and all of the prices came in at least 33% lower. We have some driver issues with 3 on the insurance "watch" lists and some baggage with 2 worker comp claims 3 years age and 1 liability claim 2 years age (don't ask --- it's very ugly), but they still like the fact that we are serious about safety. We have a policy and safety manual, all employees are OSHA 10 hour trained, both annual and random drug test, 10% alcohol screens, post accident testing and we furnish uniforms and safety equipment to all employees (hard hats, safety glasses, tyvek suits, gloves, ear protection --- yada yada ) The market has finally softened. That means that the insurance companies who doubled and tripled their rates post 9/11, have made such enormous profits that they are now willing to discount the premiums in order to generate more premium volume. Talk about a roller coaster ride. If your rates are going up for reasons other than more payroll or more equipment; get in touch with some local agencies (preferably your customers) and get some quotes. Hope your as fortunate as we were. The $ 30,000 plus that we saved will impact the bottom line more that any single job I sell this year !! Randy
