Let me try this, what I'm charging is 30 cents per foot for lines, the lines are 4" wide, do you think this is to high or low. This is canadian. Might be 35 cents us. Here in Canada the paint is $90.00 for a 5 us gal of paint. Thanks [email removed]

Well looking at your paint price, that is double what ours is, so given that your price might be OK. Do you know what your competition charges? Like I said say if I had 7,000 LF I would be happy to get .12 per ft for a re-stripe, but that is just what my local market dictates, so if you can get .35 US..like I said above I would be jealous..
No, I have tried everything to get that info. So have just been going blind. For the lettering I charge 2.00 for each 1ft letter. Handicap sign 20.00 each that is the blue and white regulation sign we have in Canada 42" arrows 5.00 each I guess I will just have to see, I think I'm covering the cost. Being the first year, it will be trial and error on pricing. I did some estimates on the old price of paint, will have to suck it up
I will be speaking to my paint dealer and see if he can give me a better price. This price is discounted. The paint is Alkyd Zone Marking Paint price before tax 79.35 it was 69.00 (just went up) The price I gave was with tax. With the arrows for a large 90" $15.00 I figured it wasn't enough, I will have to re price them. Thanks guys
The highest price I have charged is .25 for a job that I layout and is under 1000 L.F. If it is a re-stripe, I start at .15 on jobs under 1000 L.F. The higher the linear feet, I gradually charge less per foot. $10.00 on stencils, 15 on two color handicaps. However, if gas prices continue going the direction they are now, I may have to rethink my pricing. Keep in mind, this is my 3rd year in business. (I've painted for our local Street dept. for 19 years) so, right now, I'm basically kissing my customers behinds to keep them happy, and to earn repeat, and word of mouth business. After I feel I'm firmly established, I may charge more, but for now, I just want the business.
Thanks Stripes, In my 19 years with the St.Dept. I have made some very valuable connections. Mostly with our local paving company, I now get all the parking lots they do, which keeps me hopping in the spring and the fall. In the summer months they stay busy with highways etc.. I, at least at this point don't have the time to take on those jobs. I plan to stay with the St. Dept. for 11 more years til I retire, and keep striping on the side. My hope is that my son and step-son will take an interst and this will turn into a great summer job for them. Right now, however, they are both a little on the lazy side, which has to do with their ages, 12, and 13. They do make really good tape measure and string holders! After every job I have done so far, I have never handed a bill to a customer without asking them first if they are completely satisfied. I haven't had a complaint yet
