It seems, well at least where I'm at there are an awful lot "Pop Up Striper's". They just appear, other contractors (Asphalt & Sealcoat)have never heard of them but every once in a while you seem them doing something around town. They are not in the phone book, no markings on vehicles, just a truck, maybe a trailer, a striper and their 5 gallon bucket. Don't get me wrong there is plenty of Asphalt and Concrete to go around, but how many of you must provide insurance and actually be a filed company? I look in the business section every sunday for both new business's and bankruptcy's and in 3 years I have never seen a company or person with a company name or information of what they do to reflect that they may be in our business. Yet these individuals are doing business? How does that work? Every Property Manager that I work for confirms that if they do not have proof of insurance & Workers Comp there will be no business coming my way. I'm at a loss. And yes I am serious when I say every Sunday I look in the business section. Any positive feed back would be worth the read, anyone with nothing worth while please keep it to yourself.

I find the same thing. I probably do 60/40 split between new construction and re-stripe. I am finding more and more folks who want even take a estimate till I get them a copy of the insurance and Workman Comp certificate. I have been hoping this is a positive sign.
