Just found a great deal at auction. Purchased a used Kelly Creswell Model HDCT. Should I tune it up for a spare or head to the local scrap dealer? Any input appreciated before i ruin any more weekends on line striper salvage dreams. Are there any problems typical of this brand of striper?

I just bought an pretty old Kelly machine for $1,000, these things are pretty much indestructible given the proper care and attention. I would definitely recommend going to the nearest hose shop and replacing all the hosing first, it's and old machine and is bound to have air leaks somewhere. Secondly, check both gun's and see if they are in salvageable condition, clean them thoroughly and see how well they spray. Personally I wouldn't even question it, go ahead and ship them back to Kelly and replace them, you'll thank yourself for the headache's saved on the job site. I didn't even bother cleaning them, I just took them off and sent them right to the Creswell Co. and had them replace both guns. Those are the two big area's you need to tackle first when fixing up the machine, other than that it's just basic engine work, drain and replace gas, new oil, new air filter etc. My machine looks ancient but it puts down lines like a brand new machine. Hope this helps, be sure to let me know!!! Sean Rejuvenate USA
Rebuild those guns yourself, it is cheap and easy and you should know what your equipment is inside and out. Buy new hoses, get them on ebay reasonable compared to local retail etc. The last thing I recommend to anyone in this business is to send your equipment in for repair unless; You have more money than time, and/or you need a lesson in bending over...
