Here's an even better one. Over a month ago, I got a call from a supt. asking me to restripe a new Popeye's and a new Crystals hamburger joint. I declined.....the GC is a slow payer and I've divorced him. Shortly afterwards, a skinny dude gives me call asking me to do them and assured me he always gets his money and would pay me that Friday (5 days). He came across as being a big time operator and gave me a ton of references of big contractors he's worked for. When I pulled up to the first jobsite he was pressure washing (more like peeing) on the parking lot. He had a popcord 2500psi pull around Wal-mart special with a long run of garden hose. When "he was finished" I had to waterblast where the stripes were to go in order for the paint to stick. It was that bad. I did, he didn't... owes me over 1K.... I just contacted the GC and he was paid that Friday like he said. Don't trust pressure washing people either. Also don't trust anybody that has PO box for an address on their business card.
Ken, I don't put an address on my cards at all, or even my website. I hand out loads of them and the last thing I want is someone prowling around my home or lot when I'm out working at night. Mostly for the safety of my family. Just something to think about. I'm even hesitant to have new hires come to my property. I usually just have them meet me at a jobsite.
Well, Dave at fine line is an absolute peach. He sent me a lazy liner with all the equipment needed. The shipper damaged my machine in transit and when I called for price and availabillity on the parts, Dave just sent them. In defense of Dave forgetting to return a phone call, havent we all? He could probably hire some more help, but then be prepared to pay the Graco price also. I applaud Dave for a good product, a great price, and value added service. ACCUR8
