Regarding the Lazy-Liner 2, Has anyone noticed their seat mounting bolt holes in the square tubing so close to the bend in the tubing, that the seat can't be tightened due to the stretching of the tracks which causes the seat to stop moving forward??, it's happening to us. We had to put the unit together ourselves, and noticed the nuts must stay loose, or the seat can't be adjusted. Fine Line didn't offer much of a fix, other than expectying us to remedy it ourselves, which is a no-no for what i expect to be a quality product. We are also having trouble with the filler neck on the Hydraulic fluid reservoir. It is too high and the seat bangs right into the cap bending it. Fine Line doesn't offer to remedy this for us, and here lately Dave is Smart alecky about things. Another Note: We purchased our unit from Smith MFG., a distributor for LL, and they told me my unit was ready, and they assembled it. Just because i couldn't pick it up for a few days from their facility, they offered to bring me in another unit if i wasn't coming by a Friday, cause another customer wanted one. I said no i was coming to get it...when i got there it was raining, and we got very wet because we had to take it off the pallet, and basically put it together haphazardly to get it in my trailer with my other machines. They obviously dealt deceivingly with us, and they obviously sold my unit and the one i ended up with came in the 2 days before i got there, they didn't make sure it was set-up even though they knew all day we were driving 4 hours to get there, we had a job in the area which is why we were picking it up from them.

Totally different from what I've experienced. They've always bent over backwards to make things right. Sounds like the distributor is the problem.

Yea I sort of got the same feeling when I bought mine from them as well. I received my machine with 2 flat tires nuts and bolts missing from the seat and no ball hitch for the striping machine. Called Dave at fine line and he said they make those and charge 40 or 50 bucks for them. OK so sell me a machine I cant use then try and squeeze another 40 bucks out of me for a 5 dollar part.Don't get me wrong here they make a fantastic piece of equipment but the devil is in the details .

We had the same issues. The thing that bugged me the most was that he was aware of the problem and shipped it anyway. However, he did find a partial "fix" and sent it right out to me. It was 4 wedges that went between the seat and the frame to alleviate the stress on the frame. We still cant tighten the bolts all the way, but it is better. It also raised the seat just enough to clear the cap. All that said, it should be shipped with whatever fix it needs to function properly, but I still like that I can call the guy who makes the machine and not some customer service person when I do have issues. kris.. the lack of a ball hitch bugged me too, but I can see why it doesn't come with it. If you allready have multiple machines with balls on them and are just getting another Lazy Liner, then you don't need a new one.

First off let me say that am aware of the seat problem that we have had with a few machines that have gone out. On this particular run of frames we had a new bender and die that we tried and had a few that were not totally right but I thought that they were still good enough for use,( about a dozen, about half of those were set aside to be replaced ). I was wrong, I apologize. If anybody here has this problem I will take care of it, just call me. Kris who did you buy your unit from? If direct from us, and you didnt get a hitch it was a packing oversight. Call me and I will make it right. As far as Smith Manufacturing goes they are a dealer for us and do a very nice job of taking care of customers. Smith purchases the Lazy Liner unit for use mostly with there grinder hook-up, I do not sell Smith units with striper hitch attachments because they do not require them for 99% of there sales. ASI, I never told you to remedy the situation yourself, I told you I would get a solution for you as soon as I could. I sent out the same fix to Striping Fool when I had it, I just havent sent it to you yet. Also if you thought I was being smart allecky with you, you are right . The whole time you were talking with me about this purchase and asking questions I couldnt remember who or where I knew you from, then I remembered you were the same C Simms that stiffed me with a bad check about 4 yrs ago for a replacement transmission for an older Lazy Liner unit, and never had the decency to replace it or return my numerous calls about correcting it. Just let me say also I am a one man show just like a lot of you stripers sometimes I have forgotten things or details of a sale as time goes by. I appreciate all the business and support everyone has given us over the last ten years. If anybody has had a problem with there units call me and I wiil do my best to take care of the problem, we always have and always will, remember who put you in the seat in the first place. Same here Ken, I find Fineline excellent to deal with. I phoned up, they faxed a payment form through I filled it out, had the machine flown out to me here in New Zealand and I had it hooked up to my striper all with in a week. That's service for you. I asked what would happen if something were to go wrong whilst it was under guarantee, he said to take it too an engineering shop and he would deal direct with them. Of-course nothing went wrong but it was nice to know. I have nothing but praise for the man and his product. I have 3 lazyliner 2's. The 1st one I got off Jpanz (jimbo) a few years back and that one's still going like it was new. I had to assemble that one cause I asked him to make it as small as possible because they charge by weight as well as cubic feet on the plane. It's not a major to assemble them. I was so excited I assembled it in the customs warehouse there and then with about 30 blokes watching and wondering what the heck it was! proud as punch I was I say proud as bludy punch! A few weeks back we were working on a huge construction site. My company was working on a roof top parking lot and I looks down and see another striper company working on the ground level.... pushing Graco HS 200's! well I had to go down there and show off didn't I! I hopped on me hs200 and Lazy Liner and went down to see them! 'eyup lads ya need one of these, gave up that pushing malarkey years back,' I says! They had never seen them before! They were well impressed! My lads just hid from the embarrassment of it all but I wasn't bothered just had to show off! loved it!

Hmmm! My experiences with Dave and his company has always been positive. From when I first purchased a lazy liner in 2000, to the present, I have never experienced anything but extreme willingness to do whatever it took to make me feel like I was his favorite customer (which I know is not the case). Dave understands that we (the people and companies that use his products) are how he pays his bills and he understands the importance of good relations with his customers. I used to be part of a small manufacturing company and completely understand quality control and the variables in manufacturing from production run to production run. From what I havse seen, Dave does a good job on his QC and when something does slip through the cracks, he is quick to offer whatever it takes to fix it.

I feel Dave is a very good information on the driver. He has answer for the ideas that we have given him and very helpful when needed. We purchased the driver in 2001 and haven had a problem that Dave can help with. We really believe in Dave and his company. We all could be walking and not getting fatter riding and making dollars with the ricer.

I hope my post didn't sound too negative toward Fine Line, that was not my intention. Overall I have been very happy with the product and especially the service Dave provides. I was just concerned that I received a unit that was known to have a particular issue, shipped anyway, and didn't include the fix. If the issue wasn't known till after shipment then that is understandable. After one call, he did find a fix and called to let me know it was on the way. So once again, excellent customer service. This was my third Lazy Liner and I see no need to go anywhere else for my fourth.

I just like Dave's last line "remember who put you in the driver's seat in the first place". Whether Graco copied them or whatever isn't important...fact is many years before Graco ever thought about it... Dave and Fine Line INVENTED the original LazyLiner which was the first thing you could ever sit down on and paint stripes, it sold for about $7,000 cause they had to build each one, they weren't some big company, just stripers like everybody else who figured out a better way and figured other people would want it too (and I was at the Atlanta show where they debuted the first one it and took one of the first "test drives"). Most people have great things to say about them. And if it wasn't for them EVERYBODY would still be pushing

First of all, i didn't send you a bad check. Something did happen i don't remember what it was, there was some correspondence, however, the tranny didn't solve my problem, and you said there might have been air in it from the shipping...i tried several times to bleed it. Don't know if i got a bad tranny or something else is wrong, i gave up on it, hence buying a new LL2. And it was 2 years ago i bought the thing, not 4. And there hasn't been numerous calls to me about it...While you had me on the phone you never mentioned anything. And the smart a##ness i referred to was before i placed the order for new LL2 and gave you any names, you probably didn't remember the voice, so that couldn't be the reason you were smart. You got spiffy because i asked you for the number to Smith Mfg. for about the 2ND or 3rd time in a few days, i think twice, but i could be wrong. So you talked to me maybe 3 times or more, and never said anything, so i didn't know anything was wrong. I was out of town and the number to Smith was at home...i wanted to expedite a order ASAP, SO I CALLED YOUR OFFICE FOR IT. Sorry for the misunderstandings, but i wouldn't "stiff" you on a tranny, then call you about a $4000 machine...not knowingly anyway. I forget things, the way you said you do, so you should have said something. And also you remember me in our last correspondence about the money saying i thought you had got your money on it...so i believe i gave you a credit card NUMBER...i aM SURE I DID, and you obviously couldn't get the transaction thru. I had the money in the account, it was a check card. And Ken you have gotten payments on the machine, so you haven't gotten stiiffed either i still owe and didn't pay as per agreement at the time...but to tell you the truth 2 weeks ago i was going to send you an e-mail about it, all i saw was MB's e-mail so i didn't bother...my new e-mail is giving me probelms so i like to have a link to click on...matter of fact i even called you and got your answering service. So expect to hear from me tomorrow. Once again an apology to Dave and Ken if they feel i was out of line for anything but the seat issie should be resolved by now, things happen we'll accept that. I do Know though, i was told i could go to the hardware store and buy the parts to fix the thing. I knew that already, common sense told me that. So that does insinuate me to fix it myself...but i never meant to say you came out and said that to me...sorry. One other peeve...i was hoping for the RED HONDA engine to match my other units, i always hated the black...but i understand if honda is short on the RED....you gotta go with the black. I have gotten used to it, and set aside being picky about it...the unit is great otherwise. Dave call me about tranny issue(money owed), if you don't hear from me. you should have the number.

Like my mama said, "point a finger at somebody and you'll have three pointing at yourself." I need to listen to Chip more often (excluding politics)..... don't do business with another striper unless he is within arm's reach.

No disrespect to the other striper's here, but I refrain from doing business with any striper that I don't know for at least 5 years. Every one that I helped out of a jam, failed to pay his invoice. Much to my regret, I made an exception with RandyV. He was such a fresh faced little noob, sounding all innocent and such, and he fast-talked me into selling my thermo machine to him. He paid cash, introduced me to his cute young daughter and bought me dinner. Then he took my machine home and proceeded to become a thermo master. Sorry #@&***%. *tear* I feel so used. I just hope his daughter grows up and wants to go to Duke, cause it is really expensive, and RandyV will have to work really hard to pay for it. But with my luck, she'll turn out to be smart, and get scholarship offers to Yale. God looks out for fools I guess. I did make one other exception, and that was with Ken (|||Stripes|||, or some such), who I sold some Titan stripers to. I had acquired another company and they had a couple of Titans in their fleet. I tried them Titans for one summer and the dang things went "ca-chunka, ca-chunka, ca-chunka", dint have no Fat Trac tires, had this big ol hydraulic head near the handlebars that got hot as heck (not a good place to rest yer hands, I'll tell ya), and used a fan belt to drive the pump which made the whole machine vibrate and my hands went numb and my wife preferred my that my hands not be numb, as she had plans for my hands. Anyways I agreed to sell these Titans to Ken for a pretty penny and he shows up at the Expo looking like a refugee from a paint plant explosion. I unload them Titans on him and he allows as how he left his checkbook "back home with Mary Beth" but he will send me a check when he gets home. I look at RandyV and RandyV looks at me and we both look at Ken like he's lost his mind, what kind of fool leaves his checkbook at home with Mary Beth, but I was so happy to get rid of them Titans I let him go. Evidently Mary Beth did have the check book, cause she sent me a check and a nice recipe for a casserole. The check and the casserole were both good and I don't miss the "ca-chunka, ca-chunka". Dang stripers.... PS I hear good things about this Dave feller and his pusher. I just like the pusher made by the baby stroller guys.

Yeah, we all are "soft touches". I have sold three paint machines on credit. One 5 years ago, received two payments....still a big balance. Another ~two years ago...almost paid off but not holding my breath. The third this year.... finally traded out labor but we are even....he lives close. Thursday a week ago I sent a substantial deposit to buy a paint machine from an ex striper....He was was supposed deliver the machine the following Tuesday. Still no show. Seems like I'd learn my lesson.
