Does anyone use Ultra High Pressure water systems, for line removal and surface cleanning? I'm talking in the range of 5-7000 PSI. LVHP(low volume high presure) ie: rubber from airport runways? I'm trying to locate an equipment supplier for this type of stand alone machine.

We provide pressure washing and pavement marking/striping services. So we have on occasion removed stripes with our pressure washer (hot water, sodium hydroxide, and 3000+ psi. Works fairly well, especially if the paint is fresh. If there are multiple layers of paint, get ready for some work. However, we are currently working a job where we're following sandblasters and they are doing a remorkable job of not only removing the existing paint, but preparing the surface for a new coat. Good Luck,
Hey We used a 5000 psi with a turbo nozzle on some old lines this past month. The lines were not a pronblem The only problem we had (which was not a big one) was on the handicaps. Were the blue background was eazy it was just were the white color was on the blue. We had to sit there just a little longer. It is true that the pressure washer will leave marks were the old lines are but a scarifier will do the same. People don't really under stand what it takes to take up paint. No matter how much you tell them. it was a Department of Public Saftey job and they had not complained once. But I did tell them that with this option that the pressure washer will leave marks. Once we were done we had a sweeper go out and clean up all the old paint and parts of asphalt. -Dean
