So my guys and I are doing patchwork and cleaning a lot getting ready for the big 4 day weekend, its 12 o'clock so I decide it's time to get lunch for everyone. Upon arrival I see one of my guys sprinting back to the area where we are working, I figure he was sleeping or laying down while I was gone, I drive up ask what's the matter and he's screaming in Spanish and pointing to an adjacent parking lot, I turn to see our 99 Isuzu Cab going flying through the lot hitting three parked cars. I throw the Wendy's out the window and give chase, he was gone before I could even catch up. This guy had the balls to jump in the truck and steal it in broad daylight in a big office park, in front of my guys!!! The truck had our IR Air compressor, diesel tank with about $400 in gas, jack hammers, air tools, plate compactor, billy goat, power broom, needless to say I was sick to my stomach. We always leave the keys in all our truck's because we are constantly moving around on the job and it's just more convenient for easier mobilization. Police doubt we will ever see it again, and it'll be another two months before we see any reimbursement from insurance The next day I went and had all truck keys copied and gave one each to my three guys, every time they step out of the car on the job they must lock the door regardless of where we're at, and at the end of they day, turn them back in to me. Might waste a little more time on the job but I'm never going to take the chance of this happening again. Moral of the story ALWAYS keep trucks parked in plain sight to keep an eye on!! I wouldn't wish having a truck and all your equipment stolen on my worst enemy, it's a crippling effect. Sean Rejuvenate USA

I think Don's talking about Lojack. Other companies have in-vehicle gps tracking. Our local cell phone company, Alltel, has vehicle tracking. They will install a gpx reciever that calls in every few minutes and updates a server with the vehicle location. You can go online and see where your trucks are. Costs about $60 / mo.
