You mean ROCKHARD
we buy 1000' of nylon cord. It's about the same diameter as the pull cord on your machine. You have to have someone or something standing on both ends (a full 5 gal paint bucket works good) Our longline thermoplastic guys will use the full 1000', but I generally cut mine down to around 500' and i keep a couple of older ones around that are 200' or less for the smaller stuff. For straight-line work, I really think weed-eater line will do what you want. I've never used it myself, but I've never heard anybody that has used it say it doesn't work well.
Go to home depot and buy a box of Polypropylene Tying Twine. It comes in a box with 6500' LF. You can usually find it near the rope and chain section. The cost is about $25 to $30 bucks. Its cheap enough to use and toss. I think product is similar to what StraightLineJim was talking about. Works great.
I use the same stuff but I keep it rolled up on a extension cord reel the type that has a hole in the center and you hold in one hand and reel with the other. works great
