hey guys/gals, this may of been asked before , but i am curious on the "special" stencil "thank you" and "drive thru" for mc d's, i know robert sells them and i have a mc d's to do next week and another in a month or two, i talked with the head person today in charge of job with mc d's(job was aquired from a blacktopper that is subbing me), and maybe i should not of said nothing, but i mentioned to him about the special stencils and he was basically clueless(and he was going to "check" with someone after i brought it up)....question is.... do all mc d's require this? or do some do and some dont?, (i just did not want to do regular stencil in thank you or drive thru and then some kind of drama with them and do some horrid no no and break a mc d's must etc....), i somewhat included the price of these stencils in the job, but if i dont have to do, i wont(but now that i opened my mouth i am sure i will), but curious on any feedback or mc d do and donts etc.....thanks in advance (i just dont want ronald mcdonald mad at me and showing up at my doorstep or end up like the "mc burglar")

Around here, McDonald's get inspected by someone from corporate, and the inspector requires the pavement markings to conform to McDonald's Drive Thru Branding. But, I have seen some other cities where they didn't. Go figure. But, my set of McDonald's stencils paid for themselves on the first job I did, and then I did a lot more jobs at the same price before I got tired of working at night.
I've done probably a dozen different McDonalds in the past, all franchise units. Noone ever specified what they wanted. I just tried my best to match the existing stencil work. I did break down and order "those" stencils(after taping off the words once). I recall, I paid over $350 for the set in Duro(big mistake). First of all, I got to the job and the dimensions weren't right. they were off just enough to annoy me. Second ,never order a stencil in that thickness, unless you plan on throwing it away after using it. Hard to use, hard to store, you name it! Anyway, the guy I dealt with on one group passed away. The other had his lots sealed. So ,needless to say, the only time the stencils have come out of my trailer(in the last two years) is when we clean out the trailer(also known as waiting for paint to dry). Then there are the arrows(made my own) which are a two step process. An arrow on a circle background. Done like you would a handicap sign. Paint the circles, let it dry, go back.....paint the arrows. One lot I did, had 24 of these. I felt bad for the guy and only charged him $10 each....even at that, $240 worth of arrows on one fast food lot seemed high. But I didn't put them there in the first place...not my problem. I don't know where you're at, but if you're close, you're welcome to use mine. If not try to locate someone who has them. I wouldn't invest in them , unless you had a contract for multiple units over a long period of time. One suggestion would be to get the property owner to buy them. That way he would have them, no matter who does his restripes. Just a thought.
