I am fairly new to the striping business and I need some help from the pro's. I have been getting the we needed it striped yesterday jobs. The instructions on the striping paint label says to wait at least 30 days on new concrete. But the general contractors have been pressuring me to stripe sooner than the 30 day wait period, like 7 to 14 days after pouring new concrete. Also if they use a curing agent does this require pressure washing?

Because of the nature of this business, we often have to stripe "outside the parameters". If it has to be done, it has to be done. Often I am the last contractor on the job, and have the least amount of time and have to stripe on asphalt that is still warm. As far as striping on concrete, let some of the Texans chime in, as they do more concrete work....

I get that stripe it now thing too. Fresh concrete is basically paint stripper. It's extremely alkaline and will break down the paint resin. After two weeks, it might be cured enough for the paint to stick, after a month, it usually has. Less than two weeks, your paint will be guaranteed to come off. If the customer has to have it done, I get a waiver of warrantee signed, with a promise to pay me to come back when the concrete is 30 days old and pressure wash the paint off, and re-paint.
