I have just installed a new "anti-spam" feature for these forums! It encrypts e-mail addresses, hiding them from computer "robot" programs that attempt to collect e-mail addresses from user's profiles. It doesn't change anything for you, you won't notice any difference. It will still be no different for you to e-mail other users from their profile link or them to e-mail you. You don't have to do anything special, as a registered member you will see the address as normal. BUT to these automated computer "robots" like the spammers use your e-mail becomes a jumble of mixed characters and numbers...totally useless. Now you can make your e-mail address public in your profile for other forum visitors to be able to contact you without worrying about getting added to a bunch of "spam" lists. (Of course guest "browsers" cannot view your information anyway). PS: If you are a registered user attempting to e-mail another registered user who has not "hidden" their e-mail address and have problems please e-mail me through the forums. The developers of this program have tested it extensively but want any "bugs" reported just in case they missed something. It has been tested to work with all major browsers (IE, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, etc.) and to stop all known "spam harvester robots". PS: Shameless self-promotion. I found this program for my web site clients who are setting up new email addresses and don't want them getting on spam lists. Then discovered they had an adaptation to make it work automatically with these forums...cool. So if you are a new client of PavementWeb and want your new address like [email removed] to not be picked up by spam robots I can do it! (Sadly if your address has been around for years like mine, they already have you. But it will stop the new ones... )
