This is the 3rd time I have had to do this in 8 years. No one was hurt. They landed on a sand bar 500 yards in front of a glacier to watch it cave. a big chunk fell off causing a wave to hit the side of the bird. it was unflyable then. so a maintenance crew came in to ready it for a trip back home and well they were working on it another chunk fell off and caused 3 more waves in which 1 completely covered the tail section. Ice everyware and a few chunks hit the side moving it about 20 yards away. 2.5 million down the drain so to speak.
New job for weekend

We painted a new asphalt helo pad for a hospital. Later that day a helicopter landed on the pad. The skids sunk into the fresh asphalt and the copter couldn't generate enough lift to take off. They had to get a couple of tow trucks out to lift the skids out and set it on boards so it could take off.
