This should be easy for you all. I am new to the business and was asked to bid on a job. I would like your help in giving a fair price for the lot . specs: 17 parking spaces and 1 blue handicap spot. New layout !!! The builder wants me to put in concrete parking bumpers 18 of them 6 foot bumpers. I need to know what you all pay for one of these. feel free to give me your honest opinion on the cost of this job. thanks everyone in advance, Michael

Minimum Charge for the striping and the wheel blocks are around 50.00 installed. Where in NJ are you? Jim

I would get a minimum of $150.00 for the striping and handicap and $25.00 each furnished and installed for the stops. Concrete stops local cost me $13.00 each and the rod is less than $1.00 per stop cut to length.

My area is not average but my minimum for any striping even if it is 1 space is $230. and the cement stops are $100 installed each. You have to set your own pricing based on your overhead, and profit margen you require, with a little consideration on the going rate in your area.

Go to a place that sells bumpers get a cost for how many you need. Don't forget the rods. This is labor intensive. Cost of material, cost of labor, overhead, mobilization, don't forget profit. You need to establish a minimum price for jobs that are small. People forget to allow for equipment maint & or replacement down the road. A good local accountant can help you with building job costs. If you are fortunate & buy some stops cheaply don't give your low cost away. Discover the market price for all of your products. Labor is usually the determining factor on winning jobs. Be efficient, be productive by purchasing the proper equipment to do the job. Don't cut corners, pay your help a decent wage. Good luck out there. I like the $100.00 each for the bumpers. Striping would be a small job minimum for us. Just raised the smj price to $300 to cover fuel and paint price increases. Bumpers go for 38.50 for either concrete or fiber.

I think it's time for you to raise ur prices on the east coast. Nothing there is cheap. How can you make any money for 50 dollars?

No Joke, Maybe Jim was talking about the bumpers... We have had a $295 minimum for several years but always sub bumpers because our local concrete plant will deliver & install them for $17! ea. if there is 5 or more. Busy-work for their "yard hands". We do make an exception to the $295. That is if a customer has a job that would be say $100 priced "normally" we will do if for that IF they are in no hurry and we can do it at any time when we are "passing by", not on their schedule but ours. That way we don't sound like "bad guys" asking $295 for a small job but they realize they are paying the price for the old calling on Tuesday with the "I need this done by Friday" line. If we can do it anytime when we are literally "diving by" going to or from a larger job it's quick $$ for us since you can do one of those in 15-20 minutes tops. One thing that has never ceased to amaze me it that every year without fail I have got several calls from "managers" of one type or another who had their supervisor or regional guy or whatever coming "day after tomorrow" (once or twice "tomorrow") and had just remembered they were supposed to have had the parking lot striped...I always loved those, they can be very profitable
