Is anybody else having problems with new paint staying down? I have a bunch of places where it is turning loose. Most of them are new construction. The only common denominator is they were all subjected to the two months of relentless rain/ice. Just curious. All of the paint is SW straight alkyd.

was it really cold or damp at all when it went down?

Yes, but mine was latex.

Usually it comes down to surface contaminates, new construction is bad for tracking dirt and dust everywhere, take a look at the back of the paint, is there anything stuck to it?

We have had a lot of trouble with new concrete (no problem with asphalt) if its not pressure washed. Most of the time the contractor won't take time to do it. We have ordered a wire brush from Smith manufacturing that will fit our Graco Grind lazer. It's called a cure it removal brush and is sopposed to be just for the purpose of removing cure agents. It will arrive here tomorrow so hope we get to try it soon, if it will quit raining long enough.

Years ago when I worked at Seatac airport the field crew (laborers) had to use a bead blaster to remove the cure from the surface of the concrete before we could stripe anything. If we didn't whatever striping paint we used would just peel up or just wear off prematurely
