Paint Prices?

Just talked to SW my waterborne paint went up .35 cents on the gallon. Oilbased went up $1.55 on the gallon. Last week they quoted me a lot higher prices and I told them I would find another supplier so they called back today and said they had talked to their area rep. with new pricing. Right now I'm paying $9.79 waterborne and 10.99 oil based.
A month ago we got a fax from Ennis stating the usual raw material shortage, also to expext big increases in waterborne paints. We use CR so I didn't give it much thought, but it looks like the MFG's of solvent based paints have the same shortage or are riding the same train, because I can not find anyone near last years prices, we are seeing 20% - 40% all across the board... This Sucks...I guess it may weed out some of the gypsies...
TMT Pathway went up about a buck per gallon. This year's price for fast dry oil, (which we can still use in the NW) is $9.14 per gallon in lots of 100+ for white or yellow and it requires no shaking. I never use latex but it is a $1 to $2 less than oil depending on the type.
Not sure where everyone is at however here in Kansas the prices are ranging from $13.00 to $10.00. This prices spread covers Porter, SW and Diamond Vogel, both oil and water base. These prices are for 100+ orders. SW I know raised there prices for all paints here by 30% total over the last six months. Just have to decide which is the best deal. Bob
OUCH What is up with all these 30-40% increases.. Does anyone have a little local hole in the wall paint MFG that offers reasonable prices anymore?, even with the big MFG's Does anyone have any connections. We are looking everywhere. I don't think I have tried Diamond Vogel yet, Ill call them today..
Prices went up here for me as well. Using SW, called my salesman, expressed my dismay and I'm still waiting to get a call back and a price correction. Of course I have already contacted another maker, the kicker there is freight with gas prices so high. I guess I'll just wait and see how the paint prices turn out.
