I had a call from my paint rep who says because we buy so much paint we would save a lot of money buying in 200 litre barrels and transferring it into the 20 litre pails, they will deliver this on site..... but.... we have no forklift and I have no clue on how to transfer the paint over, I need it done quickly as well, I don't want the lads standing around pumping paint for an hour every day. Does any one do this and or know of a way to do it. The drum can't be moved once it has been delivered. If there is a pump that does this how fast and reliable are they? and how does it work? Tut some one has just said think of it as a barrel of beer Wendy you'll soon come up with a solution! cheeky! Any ideas much appreciated

In the past when we did alot of striping we would use air diaphragm pumps to transfer the paint and circulate it. It is good to give it one good mix with the drill mixer when it arrives from shipping and then circulate it after that before you transfer to pails. If you use flat bed trucks to the job sites you can actually tranfer the material into the handliners like a gas pump. THis all depends on your operation. We were a high volume max production operation so to me every second counted.
One make is Wilden, there are others. Air diaphragm pumps are also used on sealcoating set-ups Wendy, as well as many other applications, water etc. Latex or oil based paints? I wonder if a gasoline type trash pump set-up would work for you? You could pump into pails from your machines! 2 gallons per minute! Hehe.
Robert right here on PLP has good prices. http://parkinglotplanet.com/Stencils.htm
I've had great service from Rob, needed a set on a job as soon as possible, he had it on the plane for overnight delivery the very next morning, finished the job without a problem. Although he did give me some crap about my age asking "if I was old enough to order these stencils?" jokingly, but I get stuff like that all the time around here Sean Rejuvenate USA
