I'm from canada and I have been unable to find out what the going rates are for lines, lettering and curbs. I will be using premium road paint. If anyone can give me a rough Idea it would be greatly appreciated. If you want to e-mail me here is the address [email removed]

First thing, figure your costs. I figure around 300 LF per gallon for stripes, and 150 LF per gal for curbs, those will be some rough numbers for you, just add in what you pay for paint, then the estimated labor, and money for equipment, and your daily overhead (OH is all other costs to keep your business running..ex. cell phones, advertising etc..) then when you add in all these numbers you will have what it costs YOU to paint, and that number is different for everyone, as a larger company will have higher overhead compared to a small one man show. Now that you have your costs, you add in profit, that should be the only number you have to change to adjust to your local market, because you don't want to mess with your costs and risk doing jobs under cost. Start with 40% profit and see how your bids compare to other in your area, I would also set to get a 40-50 % capture rate, meaning you get 4-5 of 10 jobs you bid, if you get less, lower your profit number a little and see where you come in. Paint prices are all over the board, depending on where you are from, it could be from .40 to .60+ per ft for curbs, and stripes for re-striping could be from .09-.15+ ... It's all market driven, and that is why it is hard for anyone to just tell you to charge .XX for striping... hope I did not confuse you, but if you can be profitable on every job, you will have a good thing going...Good Luck ****the number I gave you are in US Dollars**** Looks like the old US dollar is coming up against the Canadian (1.24 this morning) what do they charge you for striper's up there? I know guys that buy Ford diesels in Canada and bring them to the states when the US dollar is high, they save a bunch on their trucks, I wonder if you could do the same with a Graco
