I was getting ready to convert the suction tube on my new 3900 for use with the 15 gallon hopper and I ran into a problem. The original tube has two little aluminum tabs that extend below the threads and those are preventing me from threading the coupling( same size) for the extension onto the original threads. Has anyone else ran into this? If so, how did you deal with it? I was thinking about just cutting the two tabs off but I wasn't sure of their purpose. Please advise on what I can and should do. Thanks Ace

The tabs are to keep the basket from caving in, you can cut them off with no problems.

Thanks for the answer. I didn't really think it would be a problem but I did wonder why they put them on there knowing that some of us would be upgrading to the hopper. Thanks again.
