If you want to contact someone/have someone contact you either make your email public in your profile or ask them to send you a private message and exchange emails there. It's in the rules you agreed to. Emails posted in forum posts attack "spambots" which are automated programs that run the forums looking for email addresses. They can only get them from posts, not private messages or your profile. They are a hassle on the web site because they are automated and can "troll" post after post and when one spammer puts you on his "list" he sells or trades to another "spammer" etc. and we end up with dozens of these things trolling the forums at a time, day after day, slowing down legitimate traffic for everyone else while they silently "harvest" addresses. So this rule isn't just to keep you from getting spam, it's to save the added traffic placed by these nasty robot programs on the forum system and site overall. So for everybody's benefit, no emails in open posts please.

I think you only have a certain amount of time to change your own post, once that time expires only a moderator can change/delete it.
