What is the easiest way to install sign posts in existing asphalt? I'm trying to find an easy fast way for doing one or two signs at a time.

If we have only one or two to install is take a 4" rock chisel and cut out a 4x4 hole and remove as much as possible using a mini sledge hammer (takes about 3 minutes) take a splice piece (3-4 foot). Use a good size sledge hammer 16-20pounds and drive the splice piece in. Total time is less than ten minutes with no special tools. Jim

I rent a Rhino for $25.00 per day from the local rental place. You can drive the stub(splice piece) in as much time as stated or less thru the asphalt with zero digging. You will need the Rhino, compressor to run it and a bullet level to drive the stub plumb.
