I have a long wheel base pick up truck.I have a generator for my hammer drill when i do wheelstops.I need a post driver that will run off an air compressor small enough for me to load and unload of my pickup.Rhino is the only brand I have ever used and the CFM for the Rhino is wayyy too high.It requires a giant air compressor. There has to be a post driver out there for u-channel posts that doesnt require 42CFM!!Going to check withRohrer manufacturing Monday.Any suggestions will be appreciated guys.

I had the chance to train with two really good quality people in Texarkana and this is the machine that they used. http://www.strikerpostdriver.com/ You can use a small compressor like a 20 gallon but sometimes you will have to wait for the compressor to catch up. It really beats using the manual post driver as I had the opportunity to use both. This one is less expensive than most of the others out there. You can set it on auto for continuous short strokes or manually push the button for long strokes (which work better) and release the button and it drops. It is a really cool machine and I plan on getting one when I have enough business. Hope this helps.

I do not know if it will drive through asphalt. That is a good question and I wish I had an answer.

The striker post driver will drive through fresh asphalt. I haven't tried it on hardened. We got our unit about 4 months back and have driven at least a hundred 2 inch outside diameter post. I believe it requires around 1.9 cfm to operate. I bought a compressor from Advance Auto for $88. The only draw back I see to this unit is that it weighs 60 lbs. Its no problem to get on the post and in the air but when finished, it requires a lot of muscle to get off of the post. When talking with the guy who makes them, he gave me his guarantee that I would be satisfied and called to make sure that I was. It has worked in every type soil that we have tried. It makes it real easy to core drill a two inch hole and then just use silicone to seal.

Are you referring to round pipe or 2lb/ft channel post?

We use 1 1/2 inch inside -2 inch outside diameter schedule 40 galvanized pipe. I haven't used the striker on u-channel. It does come with an adapter for u-channel.
