Slurry seal has become a generic term with many people. Seal coat often gets called slurry seal. Actual slurry seal comes in type I & type II. Type I is a finer aggrate and type II goes up to a 3/8 inch aggrate. Although each is subject to the exact mix design in the spec. Type I & II can usually be opened up to traffic withen 6 hours or so. Micro surfacing is a different animal even though it is applied using the same equipment with the exception of the spreader box. Slurry uses a drag box becuse the material flows. The micro box has augers because it is much thicker. Micro surfacing material is thicker and has larger aggrate and can usually be opened to traffic in less than an hour. The mix design is quite a bit different than type I or II.
