What does everyone do for yearly maintenance, I know from another post that those of you with hyd. units that is a touchy subject on who and when changes their fluid, but we run a fleet of Graco units, we change the 50' hoses every other year or so, and other items as needed, we repack the pump as needed as well, I was just wondering what everyone else does, I was told of a contractor that repacks his Graco pumps annually regardless of their performance, and another guy that replaces all the hoses every year as well, and also regardless of wear. So whats everyones choice for maintenance

we clean out our machines 2 times per week, but I am going to do the hydraulic oil on the pumps and lazyliners asap then 6 monthly as Cormac and Jimbo has recommended, we check our hoses weekly for wear and tear. As a blown hose is dangerous and if your not on site with your staff which I'm often not, you can't be sure they aren't dragging the hose on the ground. I have brought inner tubes for the tires. I wish I knew more about the spray units though so I could at least check for wear and tear, I wouldn't even know where to start on the Titans, I got a bit scared when Cormac started going in to the tech side of things!! By the way if there is some one on this site that has changed what ever needs replacing on titans like the packing things you are on about, would it be possible to email me so I could talk it through with you, and learn what to look for etc.
I just wrote an article on "getting you striper ready for the season" for Pavement Maintenance Magazine that will be in the next issue. I got a lot of input from some excellent service centers from around the country. I was happy with the way it turned out. Hopefully it will help minimize or even eliminate downtime this season for you. It was three typed pages so I am not going to do it all over again.

Hmmm...My SpeeFlo has grease zerks on the wheels, no need to re-pack...wonder if it was a "one-of"...

Ok Don, Yes the Gracos have them too. But the zerk fittings do not compare to a good cleaning, inspection and repacking. If you walk, I would just use the zerks but with the riders I would repack by hand. On a couple of my machines I put a grease fitting from a trailer, it real packs the grease better then the plan zerks. Jim
