Any tricks to make a nice turn without putting the gun in the back? I seem to wander so I do it the old way and lift the back tires and turn or is just practice

You are one heck of a striper if you can lift the back tires and paint a nice turn!!

most of the time I just lift the rear tires unless its a very tight turn. then I will turn the gun around. for a slow radius, even pressure on the handlebars will make a nice turn. practice, practice, practice.

swing the gun around 180 degrees and paint with it closer to the rear tire, works like a charm. *some gun height adjusting may be required

Time out. Are you guys really serious when you say you lift the rear tires?? I may be missing something here. I looked up "gullible" in the dictionary and didn't see my picture so you have to give me a little explanation.

i learned to do turns that way when we first got gracos. the old machines we had had 4 tires and it was easy to lift the rear and do turns. with the ll its not so easy but with practice it is and saves a bunch of time switching the gun around. some turns are to tight and I have to turn the gun around tho. I have also done a bunch of thermo and the handliners ive used have 2 tires in front and 1 in the rear. the rear one will release for turns but its much easer to lift the rear just a bit and make the turns, unless they are very tight turns. ive got some pics ill try to dig up and post. push one of these things for 35 years and you should be pretty good LOL

Can I assume that you're not using a 15 gallon hopper? Any videos doing this?

no 15 gallon hopper. if these are of any amount on a job I will wait until the paint level is down to a couple of gallons. its not easy, the start and stop is difficult, but in the end it saves me time. no video but ill keep it in mind should I come across some of this work.
