Randy and ASI, I couldnt agree with you guys more, I shpuld only be paid for what I did. A trip to another state, fuel, employees labor, etx, etc. If I bill an hourly rate for misc. work my charge is $65.00 per hour. I had Approx 5 hours involved in the night of zero productivity, that would equal $325.00. The problem is that Genesis at frst said OOPS after the mistake and that they would pay me, then they said they would cover lost expenses, now they say TAKE ME TO COURT. Their moral structure is weak at best and failing quickly, their inter office communication and organization is non existant, and their customer relation skills stink at best. Ask Target themselves, the Tarket manager states the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. Look at it this way, I also own rentals, if a new tennant signs a lease and doesnt move in, the tennant is still responsible for the lease, with that perspective, should Genesis still be responsible for their contract or at least my lost time and maybe even profit?

The city here put there striping out to bid. A long line striper got the bid. I was hired by the school dept. to strip one of the schools. I did the work and got paid. The longline striper complaned so they paid him also for the work I did. The legl dept said he had the contract so he was the one to get paid no mater who did the job. Dwan
Genesis is out of control. They are sloppy with there practices, poor business people , unorganized, unethical, slow paying 3+ months vs 30-35 days as claimed, quick to backstab, ready to turn on the contractor on a whim, and generally looking for the easiest way out! All they do is lead the contractor on with loose facts! We have seen lots overlayed within a week of this restripe project. These guys can't handle their business enough to keep any decent striping company around. People should approach Target individually like an earlier post stated... Sounds like the best idea... Does any body know any managment company that aren't crooked???
Just saying no and not saying it the way it relay is does not help solve the problem. National Service Providers (NSP) are known for the way they treat contractors. They are known because contractors are willing to tell it like it is and not keep the way they are treated quite. The problem is that everyone is not informed. There are still people out there that believe the pot at the end of the rainbow promised by NSP is relay there. I have read over 1000 posts on landscaping, snowplowing, and janitorial forms about NSP's and less then 10 have been positive. That is less then 1%. There will always be someone new or hungry enough to give their offer a try. That will keep the NSP's in business. To stay in business they have to make money and at the rate they charge for the service they offer usually means someone is going to be underpaid or not paid at all and it is not going to be them. The last person in the money chain is the contractor (the one that does the work) so they are most likely the ones to be shorted. What we all need to do is band together and say no we will not do the work for you (NSP) unless we have an assurance that we will get paid for work preformed. This assurance could be in the form of statements from other contractors that have had positive results, or in the form of a payment bond, A retainer up front. etc. Until the NSP's can provide a good track record or owning up to there agreements and a reasonable pay scale that we all can live with there will always be some poor sucker (no offence ment) that will get the shaft in the end. The best thing that could happen would be for everyone to know how they would be treated eather good of bad and then be able to make there own decision on wether to work for a NSP. There are 3 box stors here that use NSP's in other towns. I have been asked by thoes NSP's to provide my service for these stores. I have asked them for a retainer in order to make sure I would get paid and they have turned me down. All 3 of the local stores have contracts with me now and not through the NSP's I get paid and there is no middle man collecting a % of the money involved. Don't get me wrong I think NSP's could be an assett for us all if they would pay on time, pay a good rate, provide enough work, and provide a good comincation service between the customer and the contractor. But from what I have seen they do none of the above. This is just my personal opinion. Dwan PS I would like to hear form everyone about good experances thay have had with NSP's. post it or PM or e-mail me if you will.
Touche! You are right . I work for a few of these NSP's I have dealt with a company called ABACO. They are decent a little slow on the payout but reasonable. My only argument was how we identify these poorly run NSP's without creating liable deffimation. Jon
There is another thing that NSP's do They want you to do all the leg work, get them the numbers like how many ft. , arrows, stencils etc on a job they have never seen. Chances are they have never seen the job or never will. Dallen, so you got 2 NSP's asking you for a bid on the same job? That tells me neather one has the job yet so how could your #'s be to high. When you bid the job did they give you the footage or did you have to go out and git that information your self?
