Ok Blake, heres a question I have been trying to get answered. IF Targets bidding ended on May 2 2006, why is Genesis still trying to get contractors to do there work? You had to already bid and got awarded the stores and now trying to find contractors to do the work for your low ball pricing. Jim
All of our bid deadlines were for us to send numbers to Target. We take bids until we get awarded the stores. We were just informed what stores we were getting last thursday. After that, we haven't made any new contacts other than contractors contacting us.
Also pass on to upper management that giving a bit more info about the bidding process might make the contractors show more interest in bidding. I gave bids to Genesis for the sweeping at several Kohl's stores in my area a month ago and have no clue if I am keeping the ones I already have, gaining new ones, or losing them all. I am sure if Genesis called the right contractor here they will get a very low price. Unfortunately he specializes in working for "out of town" owners and managers who rarely see their properties. That way all he has to do is roll out of bed and give a call that he swept it and then he can go back to sleep. That's pretty good money, especially with gas prices being what they are.
I think we'll find that his superiors caught wind of him talking her and said....... NO MORE! He did say he was new to Genesis. I had personally talked to him on the phone a while ago and he seemed OK. We will have to wait and see if he responds anymore. BJ

Jim, you know they will be getting some new guys trying to get in on the large jobs, who have'nt really put a pencil to costs and overhead. And what kind of finished job will Target get? I'll bet Target would like an attractive parking lot vs. a mediocre one. I am sure Genesis gets a good cut for their "work". Domingo
I agree, even at .10 a foot, it's almost not worth it to wait for your money an djump through all the hoops. I think if a national maintenance co were to come along, and actually work with and respect their sub contractors, that might be a good thing...But for some reason, I just dont see that ever happening.
Sorry I haven't been responding. Been busy now that we started the callbacks. Target gave us a number to be under, so we have to take bids under that number. We're not setting any prices. We're just doing what Target wants us to. To be honest, I'm very curious to see what some of these lots are going to come out like.

Thats IT. On Tuesday the war WILL BEGIN. How can Target give you numbers to be below. It was a sealed bid. So now target is under cutting its own bidding process. THATS GREAT, all the work that has gone into the bidding is bogus. Its real nice that a Genesis employee is tell us about this NOW 4 weeks after the bidding closed. I'll let everyone know what happens with Target and the bogus bidding. Jim. ps. I printed your statement.
